Wegovy help

Hello, I’ve done 21 days on Wegovy and only lost 2lbs. I have tracked everything religiously and made good choices. Been averaging between 1000/1300 cals and made sure to have protein/Fibre mainly.

where am I going wrong?!

The starting dose for the first four weeks is very low and it says you may not lose weight

The wegovy stays in you system for 4 weeks so as you titrate up the next dose you should start to see the effects

Movinghouseatlast · 19/05/2024 18:58

Lots of people don't lose weight at first, as you increase the dose it works better.

I can only eat 1000 cans a day to lose weight, 1400 to maintain. On 1300 I'd lose next to nothing.

What dose are you on? You’re usually started really slowly and built up to a weight loss dose. I think anything less than 1mg is regarded as build up

PineappleTime · 19/05/2024 19:01

You've lost 2lb in 3 weeks. It's not bad. Has it been easy? The dose goes up over time and makes it easier.

Youvebeenmuffled · 19/05/2024 19:17

Yes it’s been easy - but everyone seems to lose so much more so thought I was going wrong. I have one dose at 0.25 left, then upto 0.5.

it’s expensive so don’t want to keep buying it if it’s not working for me

I did not lose very much at all the first two months, like you it was less than 1lb a week and everyone else seemed to be racing ahead. It takes time, though, for it to build up in your system and you need to increase the dose until you reach a good dose for you, this has been 1mg for me and I've stayed at that and continued to lose.

This is just a personal opinion, but I think losing slowly is excellent anyway, it gives you an opportunity to get into the good habits, start up exercising and see steady progress, plus skin elasticity is better! I don't think slow and steady is a bad thing and once you get up to speed, you should find it goes a little faster.

I would wait til you reach 1mg at least for a month before writing it off unless you have intolerable side-effects.

How much of a deficit compared to your TDEE is 1300kcal?

Youvebeenmuffled · 19/05/2024 19:46

TDEE says 1730

OK, round it up and call it a 500 calorie deficit each day. You need a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound of fat, and that’s approximately what you are achieving over each week. After three weeks you’d expect to have lost 3lbs so you are only 1lb short of this. I’m sorry you’re disappointed but as others have said the initial dosage is not intended to be therapeutic.

If your TDEE is that low are you actually obese? Some people lose loads because their TDEE is 3000/4000 calories so they can create a very large deficit without trying on wegovy.

I've been on it 5 weeks and only lost 6lb. Constant nausea though. Is it worth it?

Sorry that’s what it tells me to have a deficit of 500 cals a day

exactly my thoughts, I could have managed what I’ve lost on my own and not been £199 out of pocket!

Yes, it's expensive but as you move uo the doses it works better it has to build up in your body.

I've lost over 3 stone in a year. It's been slow- usually a lb a week, though some weeks nothing. Before this I tried to diet but just couldn't eat little enough to lose anything at all.

WitchWithoutChips · 20/05/2024 08:59

Sorry OP but Wegovy can't override the maths of calorie deficit, and a deficit of 3500 over seven days should equate to a pound off a week, much as you have found. Your TDEE does sound quite low. Are you petite, or very sedentary?

If you don't feel that you need the jab to stick to a calorie deficit then yes, you should save your money.

Well yeah
the point of wegovy is to help people who struggle to maintain calorie deficit due to excessive appetite/emotional eating/insulin resistance etc. If you’re trying to find way to boost regular calorie counting this isn’t it.
