Anyone switched from Wegovy to Mounjaro?

I found the side effects of Wegovy just too much. Have read that Mounjaro is gentler. Anyone switched?

I did Ozempic the first time and gave up as i was getting no appetite suppression but felt awful, light headed, sickness etc.

I'm on dose 3 of mounjaro and got benefits immediately (within a few hours) some mild side effects, mostly trapped wind. I'm moving up to 5mg dose next week. I think the trick is small helpings, no deep fried or very rick food, limited spicyness. TBH i have had quite a high fat diet (keto) but i think having small helping has really helped, the wind was caused by eating tonnes of broccoli and cabbage!

Thanks Cerial

Hi, I started Mounjaro on Sunday with no real side effects, maybe just a little cramping on the second day, still feeling hungry and not sure if I should move up to 5mg, I have done a lot of research and found this was the best for side effects and weight loss over all.
anyone any experience on moving up a dose before the 4 weeks are up?

IceCreamWoes · 23/05/2024 19:49

I read on another thread you need 5 - 8 weeks gap before switching

Sye · 23/05/2024 19:54

I was advised by the Dr to up it in 4 weeks as the first hasn’t had any effect on my eating, but maybe that will change.
IceCreamWooes are you on Mounjaro?

IceCreamWoes · 23/05/2024 20:29

No, I'm on wygovy (first week) but asked if anyone had switched. People responded to say at least 5 weeks break. But think I'll stick with wygovy for now.

IceCreamWoes · 23/05/2024 20:31

@Sye you're talking about upping the dose? I would stick to the prescription myself. It's designed to get your body used to it and you don't want to start freestyling.

Thank you, trying to run before I can walk springs to mind🤣
Just tried so hard for too many years to count.

I took my first Mounjaro injection on Friday night and started to feel bloated on Sunday and less hungry by about Monday. I’m still having some treats but considerably less than before so hoping to have dropped at least a couple of lbs when I next weigh myself on Saturday.

Oh another newbie, I’ve only just started.
good luck 😊

Thanks. You too!

I think I’ve made a major error. My provider sent round a general thing saying Mounjaro might work better than Wegovy and including a table for switching. This seemed quite clearly to me to indicate that if on .5 Wegovy as I was , it would be ok to move straight to 5 Mounjaro. So with a week between injections I have done jus that today. They prescribed the 5 Mounjaro without any comment

Now (too late) I have started to read up and the general advice seems to be to stop W for at least two weeks before starting M, and to start M from the lowest dose.

i’m going to be very unwell, aren’t I? I didn’t take quite the 5 dose, wound the pen back a Lbit at the last moment. But I don’t think it will save me

How are the side effects having moved over?

I have injected the third injection for wygovy 0.25 today. I don't feel any benefit at the moment and over the weekend and today my hunger and food noise has returned completely! Has anyone else had this? I've got my 0.5 pen ready and tempted to move up a week early (so next week instead of taking 4th 0.25). Has anyone done this and got any advice? I've been making healthier choices mostly but feeling very hungry all the time!

Sandwichgen · 03/06/2024 19:13

I can tell you that when i moved up from .25 Wegovy to .5 Wegovy, having had no side effects at all on the small dose, I entered a world of hurt: lots of pain, vomiting.

I had to dial back down to .25 after two doses of the .5, and then climb up gradually to .3, .35, and .4. That was the MJ catalyst for my switch, really.

Thanks for asking how it is going. Apart from some bowel cramps this morning, absolutely fine so far.

I guess I didn't have much Wegovy half-lived up inside, and I suppose the two drugs must have more in common than they do differences. I'm assuming that the tolerance I built to wegovy is actually counting towards MJ.

That or I mucked up the MJ injection 😂

Still alive. Exercising, even

Had second MJ 5 injection last night. Feel a bit light-headed / headachey this morning.

lost a pound on my first week of MJ, which is the same as I did every week on Wegovy. I’m not a super-responder, but I’ll take anything at this point. Had had no joy losing weight on my own

assuming I have no further side effects, I won’t post again on this thread, but hope it will be helpful to anyone contemplating making the change from Wegovy to MJ

I switched from Wegovy to Mounjaro as the side effects were getting too much, I was being sick a lot and had the runs and/or constipation and a lot of nausea. Mounjaro working much better for me, main downside is coldness and fatique. I've lost 28lbs in total.
