Quick poll on side effects

I'm thinking of taking the mounjaro plunge

I have a lot of weight to lose (probably about 6 stone) but I want to get an idea on side effects

How many of you have suffered badly with the side effects?

I hate feeling sick so I just want to get an idea on how common the side effects are on the initial 2.5 dose before I order. Thank you.

Hopeful bump

Not sure what this is but if it's an injection then tread carefully. I don't think there really is a safe short cut to weight loss.

spuddy4 · 14/05/2024 08:25

I've had a headache and I feel cold. When I say cold I mean freezing, I slept with 2 duvets last night.

What a useless reply. You weren’t asked for your view on weight loss.
Thanks for the thread OP, following with interest.

I take Wegovy. I have had spells of nausea, diarrhoea and tiredness but nothing unmanageable and never for more than a couple of days. It's never kept me off work or anything. I'm a few pounds off a healthy weight now so it's been well worth it and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Thank you, its good to get feedback from those who have taken It for a while as well as those that have just started. I gey the sense from reading other threads that mounjaro you lose more weight but may suffer more side effects but with wegovy (which is specifically for weight loss) you lose a but less but are less likely to suffer.

Is this mounjaro? What dose are you on? Thanks

OP posts:
spuddy4 · 14/05/2024 09:24

Yes Mounjaro 2.5

Honestly I've never felt so cold but I'd rather have that than some of the other side effects. I'm in my second dose now so hopefully I won't get any new symptoms.

It's prescribed so not something dodgy off the internet.

Yes I'm really fearful of feeling or being sick- I hate that feeling but feeling cold wouldn't bother me, I guess everyone reacts differently.

I’ve just ordered mine and I’m waiting on delivery! I have a night out on Saturday and not sure if I should wait until after it. Seems every person reacts differently.

I took my first dose yesterday and I haven't had any side effects yet. But I too hate the thought of being sick (I'm freelance so can't afford it!) so I've been following the advice in the MJ threads and I've also joined WeightWatchers as they've a programme for people on MJ/Ozempic etc so I'm watching what I eat there.

As much as I was trepidatious, I'm glad I've done it.

I have had 2 doses so far of mounjaro. I felt a bit nauseous the first couple of days but have been fine since.

Vinniepolis · 14/05/2024 18:22

I’m not sure your poll is quite right - I’ve had some side effects (ie, mild constipation, a bit of nausea a few times) but all manageable and mostly I feel fine. That’s on Wegovy, 6 weeks in.

Gruttenberg · 15/05/2024 15:19

I've just taken my 8th Mounjaro dose (now on 5mg). When I started I was absolutely petrified of feeling sick. I came off skin meds because methotrexate made me feel queasy, just can't cope with that under the weather feeling.

Anyway, I went for it as I'd decided if I was ill I'd just do one dose. My only side effect lasted for two weeks and that was feeling cold. Scared again going onto 5mg, but still no side effects at all.

I've lost 26lbs up to now - the first three weeks was a big chunk of loss but it's now settled down to 1-2lbs per week. It's wonderful to not feel food noise, and I agree with everyone who's said it makes you not think about food at all. It's a life changing drug for me, I'm not starving myself - it's allowed me to be able to just make good choices and it's working well.

My friend started three weeks after me - she's now lost 18lbs. She had heartburn for a few days with her first dose but no side effects since.

I've also saved a mint as I'm no longer buying crisps, wine, lurpak, white baguettes and all my other old favourite treats!

Edited

I'm leaning towards wegovy because it seems like a less potent version of mounjaro but this post is making me lean back the other way. I just want something to work and mounjaro does seem more effective and they are the same cost so seems silly to go for a less potent version. Thank you so much for your input.

Mounjaro has less side effects. I was sick occasionally on Wegovy but haven’t been on Mounjaro.

Oh really I thought it was the other way around because mounjaro was more potent. Good to know.

I think I read somewhere that because there are two hormones being mimicked each one doesn’t have to be in such high quantity - not sure how true that is but it makes sense.

Dopaminefuelled · 17/05/2024 12:26

Has anyone here experience bad side effects on Wegovy and then had to stop due to then? Have you had better success with Mounjaro?
