What BMI to finish GLP-1 meds? (wegovy, ozempic, mounjaro)

Hi all,

I am currently on Mounjaro and starting to think about what will happen when I get to a healthy BMI.

I understand that you can't stay on GLP-1 meds over 2 years and have heard that your providers will stop prescribing pens when you get to a healthy BMI.

For those that have been on ozempic /Wegovy which has been out a lot longer than mounjaro, what has happened as you have got to a BMI of 25? Do they let you continue to buy the pens to get to a BMI you want to get to, like 22/23 and let you get pens up to the 2 years? Or do they cut you off at BMI 25?

Any info on this would be great as I really don't know how the coming off the drug works.

Thanks 😊

One of my friends wasn't allowed it from their provider anymore because she got down to a BMI of 23. There was no chat of a maintenance dose like in the US. I'm down from a BMI of 34 to 28 and hope I don't get refused it when I get to 25. I guess you can always lie...

I’d like to understand more about what happens when you get under the 27/30 BMI too. Sounds like you’re allowed to keep going until you’re a healthy BMI at least?
