So tired last night, I slept like a baby! I decided to do a Monday morning weigh in, I don’t normally weigh on Mondays due to excesses over the weekend but it’s a few weeks since I weighed so I have hopped on the scales- 10.12.5 - that’s about 3lbs up from my lowest recorded sw weight, but I don’t think it’s technically a gain as I’m constantly bobbing around this way, although I would say it’s the top end of the pendulum swing if that makes sense.

I want quite a strict week as we are away next week so it’s future damage limitation and one last push for May for me this week. I’m not going to have seen an overall loss in May I don’t think. This week I’m all about the salads, lean meat, protein, and lay off the carbs.

I think June will need to be “just bloody do it, June” - stop faffing about, just do it. I love June but its unpredictable for weight loss as we have a lot on socially- 3 football awards nights, I have a night away in Manchester to see the killers, and our wedding anniversary, plus other things. I do have a pair of very tight size 8 jeans which do up but I can’t breath or move in- these are my goal jeans for killers weekend!

have a great Monday!

They shall now be known as the killer jeans ..

I am 72.1 kg today
Not too bad...I'm starting a no /low alcohol push now.
Grief was crushing yesterday and I drank wine and shoved biscuits into my mouth and gave up half way through my 22km run... something I've never done before.
I have 16 weeks until my marathon...
Need to commit to strength and run plan.
So doing weights while listening to the archers...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/05/2024 17:43

@Theredjellybean just take it easy on yourself. I have never done marathon training but I do run half’s and I know 22kms is a very long way. 11km is fine. Don’t push yourself too hard.

I’ve had a pretty good day today, albeit a very low calorie one so far. I didn’t have breakfast, sort of by design slash laziness, had a protein shake then had a chunk of cheese mid afternoon and forgot to have lunch. I feel weirdly alert though, think it’s the lack of carbs?! I have a chicken in roasting and will have with salad. So should end up a good low calorie, low carb day.

Hi all. I did some stretching yesterday and feel it on my tummy muscles. Need to keep at this and my tummy tensing exercises.

Made a few batches of chicken, veg and potatoes. Forgot to make soup. May make some over next few days if I remember.

Feeling slightly slimmer and more energetic. Have done a fair bit of housework recently, trying to get on track with it, hopefully burning a few cals on the way. X

Sedgwick · 22/05/2024 10:27

Killer jeans made me laugh @Theredjellybean , good luck with the marathon training, I really admire you runners.

Day 4 no booze here, feeling better for it. 9st 6lbs and in the zone again. If I go off plan it takes me 3 or 4 days to get back on it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2024 10:30

I’m about 2lbs down this morning since Monday - annoyingly, I feel this is because I have actually been sticking to my calorie allowance of 14-1500 a day, which means that if I want to lose weight apparently the way to do it is to actually stick to my calorie allowances. How boring and depressing 🤣

still, 10.10.8 this morning. All good. I dodged my run this morning, I almost never do that but it was so wet and grey and miserable, I just couldn’t face it. I did Caroline Girvan day 24 today, it was a full body circuit and it was tough! I’m looking forward to getting through the 30 sessions on this and switching to a new programme, I have had good results and even though my weight is pretty much the same, my body shape has really changed. I have done before and after pics, but I’m not quite brave enough to share them but I will try to work up the courage (maybe)

breakfast today was chicken, Greek yogurt and peanut butter. I have a gym kitchen meal for either lunch or dinner, and salad for the other.

Oh and the jeans are now officially “killer jeans” in our house, and of course, they are hanging on the back of the door in my bedroom to motivate/taunt me.

(and of course, I have Queen’s Killer Queen in my head, all the damn time, ad-libbed to “she’s a killeeeeer jeeeeeeeaaannnss” 🎵 🎶 - total ear worm 🪱 )

triplecheeese · 22/05/2024 11:07

@Theredjellybean 11kms is a good run. I tried to do 10kms on Saturday and gave up! Don't beat yourself up - you've got so much on at the moment. Lower alcohol will help with the sleep at least...

I've started Caroline Girvan's Epic Heat - trying to do 3 a week with 2 runs. Inspired by the killer queen jeans and @thenewaveragebear1983 feeling like your body shape has changed.

I on the other hand have split my black skinnies so time to put down the peanut butter 😂

Sedgwick · 22/05/2024 11:33

Well done @thenewaveragebear1983 2lbs down and it’s only Wednesday. If you could bear to share a photo I would be very interested (is it possible to just put it out for a few hours and then delete?). But if you don’t feel like it please ignore. No worries.

I am aware as an over 50s (well over) I should be lifting weights. The plan was to lose some fat first and then move away from the scales and concentrate on my shape. I have found some 2kg dumbbells, probably too light but it’s a start and will google Caroline Girvan beginners.

Itsalwayssomething · 22/05/2024 11:42

Hello! Can I join in? I need some accountability and moral support please 🙏

well done op and everyone who’s loosing!

Lost about a stone last year. Slow and steady. But half back on now. Can’t seem to get back on track since Christmas.

going away for a celebratory weekend next weekend. Going to do fast 800 until then. Need sharp shock reset. Today had 2 eggs, half an avocado and a tomato for breakfast. Black tea. 2 coffees with a little bit of steamed oat milk on top.
Lunch is going to be lentil and veg soup. Dinner… will see what I can just from the dregs of the fridge before the food shop full of protein and veg arrives tomorrow. Tuna with whatever veg I can find

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2024 12:37

@triplecheeese what is epic heat like? Is it on YouTube? I have been doing Iron, I like it but it is sloooooow with lots of lunges and I am feeling a little twinge in my knees and lower back that I am very mindful of, I have dropped my weights down as a result. I like the 30 day concept though, I haven’t done 5 sessions a week but I’m chipping through them in order and just working my way through.

@Sedgwick i could maybe put them up then report my post couldn’t i? I want to do another set of pictures first and then if I’m feeling brave I will put them up.

triplecheeese · 22/05/2024 14:56

@Sedgwick CG has a five day "epic beginner no equipment" programme on YouTube to see if you like her. It's not really for beginners to exercise, more beginners to Caroline. Her app has a full "ultimate beginner" programme where she goes through movements much more progressively over a few weeks. As a kick start I also like Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - 2kgs perfect for this.

@thenewaveragebear1983 i prefer iron to heat TBH if you're getting cardio in elsewhere... heat does have a little more cardio than iron, so far it has been sets of 3 exercises (1 of which is bodyweight) with a cardio finisher.

triplecheeese · 22/05/2024 14:58

Hello and welcome @Itsalwayssomething. lots of us have been in that position - losing and regaining! we're a friendly bunch who like to natter about anything and everything - sometimes we get deep about our food motivations and sometimes we discuss @poorpaws's landscaping

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2024 15:07

@triplecheeese it’s just the pinchy knees on the lunges but I know that’s more to do with my form and my weak core. There’s been a few sessions of iron that have just been quite repetitive, eg 6 different RDL variations for example. 🥱 but yeah, I don’t really need cardio. I also find CG doesn’t have much for the abs/core in iron, I have had to add a stand alone abs in a few times. I might try the Intent series next, I have heard good things about it.

@Sedgwick I think you could definitely do the iron series on YouTube as a beginner, just use the weights you’re comfortable with. You could even do them ‘bodyweight’ as in, no weights at all.

Thanks @triplecheeese and @thenewaveragebear1983 , I will look these up.

Welcome @Itsalwayssomething , I do Fast800 too, I love the Mediterranean style food.

triplecheeese · 22/05/2024 16:45

@thenewaveragebear1983 my core is rubbish too, two big babies and much prolapse has taken its toll. I felt great when I was doing weekly Pilates, need to dust off the old resistance bands... I just always feel like exercise needs to knacker me or it's not working 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2024 18:58

@Sedgwick ok …. Here’s my pictures (deep breaths), I will report my post in a bit to take them down as I’m not sure I want them permanently on record! But here goes. The before pics were taken 5th Feb (I weighed 161lbs I think, it was the start of me doing that 10 week programme with the PT), the after pics were taken a few weeks ago, weighing around 150lbs. So that’s 3 months apart. I am genuinely surprised by the results actually, not just my shape but the general ‘texture’ of my body. I think it’s really good to be able to see the changes even when it feels like the scales aren’t being cooperative!

@thenewaveragebear1983 you look amazing!!! Fantastic tone and definition ❤

Itsalwayssomething · 22/05/2024 20:39

@thenewaveragebear1983 👏 well done! You’re looking fantastic.

you’ve inspired me to take some before pics and measurements.

I didn’t manage to stick to 800 cals but think I was about 1000 which I’ll take. It’s a lot less than usual

poorpaws · 22/05/2024 20:59

Omg @thenewaveragebear1983 you have a stunning figure, absolutely stunning. I wish I looked half as good as your before pictures never mind the mega stunning ones.

I'm so sorry I've been AWOL but I've been thinking of you all and a very big welcome to @Itsalwayssomething.

Slabgate! I've been getting up at 6 and DP and lovely hardworking neighbour have been carrying slabs, cement, sand, scalpings etc etc up the 27 steps at the front the house whilst I've been shovelling dumpy bags of the above into buckets. What I hadn't realised is that there are 25 steps at the back and some of the work is right near the top. I've been working hard and the tops of my arms have been painful from the shovelling.

So you'd think I'd lose weight right? Nooo I gained 1 lb last week and I can see another one going on this week. I've been so hungry and we've all been snacking on rest breaks but in the evenings I've really stuffed my face ☹️

I cannot get to grips with any kind of diet atm and it seems the more I try, the more I fail.

My ankles are very very swollen atm especially my right one and this happened just before my heart attack last time so I think I may have been doing too much as well as eating too much.

Injured dog is still not good and I'm really missing our longer walks. She hops around our wildlife lakes (very near to home) and then we come back. I suppose I should walk alone for my weight and mental health but to me it seems wrong to walk without a dog,

Anyway everyone thanks for listening to my boring life of slabs and short dog walks and I'll hopefully be back to some sort of healthy eating soon.

Btw. I'm still not very sure about these slabs, they are far too pale and I'm positive they are a lot paler than the sample we were shown. They are very scratched and worn, which DP reassures me they are "natural" but I think I've made a very expensive mistake.

Keep on everyone and I'll catch up soon (as she reaches for a packet of crisps).

Sedgwick · 22/05/2024 21:14

@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you, you are very good to post pictures. The difference is inspiring. I definitely need to switch up my exercise. I also kind of suspected and this proves the scales should be only one measure we take and should not be the most important measure. I weigh less than you (also shorter than you at 5 5.5) but you are much much trimmer than me. I think I will do a monthly waist and hip measurement from now on to track progress.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2024 21:26

Aw thanks to you all. 💕 as you will
know from these threads, I do struggle and the last 6 months haven’t been easy although it does inspire me to keep going when I see the difference. The day I took those before photos I cried, I was so upset. So I hope that it has been motivating and has helped you in some way. Do your measurements or photos and just hide them until you’re a few weeks down the line.

i have stuck very strictly to 1500 calories this week and I am really quite hungry tonight. I had a gym kitchen meal again at lunch and didn’t really have much allowance left so had a protein shake for dinner which is probably why, even though I’d eaten 2 decent meals. Must be something about a liquid meal. We go away on Saturday so I’m trying to get as many good days in as I can before then as food will be out of my hands (well, to a degree- breakfast buffet at hotel, could be as unhealthy as you make it, same with lunches - it’s quite easy to grab a lower calorie option in a meal deal or supermarket, - so it’s only evening meals and wine that could go overboard)

@poorpaws if your ankles feel swollen then the small gain you’re seeing will be water retention, surely? Please don’t do too much especially if you are aching and sore.

Wow
That's amazing transformation and you've inspired me.
I have never heard of Caroline given...is she on YouTube?
I have been absolutely slacking and so caught up with funeral and grief and now work...but tomorrow I'm getting up and going for a run and then again on Sunday and next week start again.
@poorpaws ...it doesn't matter , you will get to the right headspace.
I also have had three days of under 1200 calories and no alcohol and scales say I gained 2.8 lbs....WTAF....but strangely feel thinner...
I hate my scales

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/05/2024 18:42

I’m so so tired tired tiday! Thursday vibes. I hate packing to go away so obviously I’m procrastinating that big style, as well. At least I only need to pack for one season, as the forecast is grey cloudy and cold. How depressing.

I stupidly went to sw tonight, I really thought I’d be at target, but no, I am still hovering one measly half pound above it and I cannot get below it. It’s so annoying and frustrating. I should just stop going but I just want to ‘finish’ it first. So that cost me £18 as I had to pay for missing 3 weeks and I didn’t even bloody get it!! Away next week so that will probably tip me right over again. At least I know that strict calorie counting does work for me at least at first, I’ve actually lost 2.5lbs this week - but I’m feeling quite hungry now after 1450 cals a day for 4 days! 🤔

OP posts:
Itsalwayssomething · 24/05/2024 09:24

@thenewaveragebear1983 how you doing today? Don’t let sw or the scales get you down. You’ve done brilliantly and you look amazing! I’d take that as a win 🏆

everyone else?

update from me. day 3 today of fast 800 … or my nearest to cobbled together version. Was about 950 cals yesterday. Managed to make a decent dinner with roasted veg and salmon. Worked out and did 2 walks yesterday. Was at 14000 steps by bedtime.
Feeling hungry and a bit lathargic this morning. Hoping coffee perks me up. Got some house work to do and perhaps some yoga. Planned to walk this morning but it’s a bit miserable here. Hopefully get out later instead.

determined to stay on track this weekend. It is usually my downfall.
