@thenewaveragebear1983 don’t blame you being in a shitty mood, how frustrating to have gained. Honestly it could be the poor sleep. I am going to make sleep my priority for the next few days, eat dinner as early as possible, turn tv off (don’t watch anything stressful), fresh nightie, read in bed or listen to ambient music. Luckily DH loves an early night as he is an early riser.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/02/2025 10:50

@Sedgwick my dh is really weird about going to bed early. He will say he is tired but then not want to go to bed early, and I get very disturbed by him coming into the room. I already wear earplugs and eye mask every night. I then find it hard to settle knowing that he's going to wake me stomping around. We tend to go to bed at 10 onwards but this week it's been creeping towards 11, which just isn't enough when we're up at 6. I am going to prioritise sleep this week too, I am off work so should be able to get up a little later or have a nap in the day.

The joys of living alone! I can go to bed, nobody disturbs me, I can take up the whole bed and roll around as much as I want. I wouldn't like to live with my partner although he's a wonderful man but he only lives a 10 minute max walk away so if I need any DIY doing he's always there. 🤣

It's absolutely foul weather and freezing here. We decided not to do a dog walk because the dogs are getting older and the younger one hates rain. Instead of the dog walk I've prepared loads of vegetables for my evening meal, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and baby potatoes and I'm cooking an extra large chicken at this moment . I just think the extra large ones are good value and even though my partner will have a chicken sandwich or two, the rest of it is mine (and the dogs) and it's healthy eating.

It's parsnip soup for lunch with a slice of toast and I will finish with my latest addiction, latte of course, and a caramel Skinny bar.

I'm so lovely and warm in the kitchen with the heating on and the oven air fryer going for 2 hours.

Have a great Friday.

poorpaws · 14/02/2025 12:51

@Sedgwick I meant to say sorry you're not feeling great and I hope you get some good sleep soon.

poorpaws · 14/02/2025 12:53

Also @thenewaveragebear1983 I'm sorry for the gain, we'll all have to put our heads together and find a plan.

(It's very obvious I'm typing this whilst distracted by cooking chicken and washing up).

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/02/2025 13:51

Mmmm chicken. Just cooked one myself. All gone now!

I had a terrible diet day yesterday, pushed me up to 15 stone. Hopefully I can start making wiser choices from today. Tins of fish, chicken and salads on the menu along wirh the soup.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/02/2025 15:06

I love a roast chicken too @poorpaws , I buy a lot of our meat 'whole' now as it's so much cheaper. Even better value are the leg quarters, usually get 3 or 4 in a pack and they roast really quickly, then pull the meat off with two forks to get loads of shredded meat. When I can be bothered I save all the bones until I have a big enough batch to make broth as well.

@thenewaveragebear1983 aww I think I must be idle, I just can't be bothered making broth but I know I should. The juices were lovely, I'd used lemon and fresh rosemary with garlic too and the smell was divine.

I've watched a lady on YouTube make a much smaller chicken than the one I cooked today and she made15 meals from it, plus some for the dog. Each meal looked really tasty. I'll probably get two roast dinners and two curry's (plus plenty for the dogs) out of mine. Even so, it's still good value compared to other meat. I wish I was one of those adventurous cooks who could cook an amazing meal out of mere scraps, sadly I'm not.

My kitchen does smell wonderful though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/02/2025 18:15

@poorpaws the slow cooker is your friend. Put all the bones in with boiling water, salt, spoonful of cider vinegar and herbs and after 8 hours you have beautiful stock 😻

Also: 15 meals???!! No way! We manage 5 roast dinners, and I get about 3 lunches from a chicken, plus scraps for Maggie. I don't know how you could get 15 portions from one chicken!

Morning all,
Sorry I was in such a funk yesterday. I feel a lot better today. I ended up having a really good day yesterday, ended up with 200 calories to spare.
Today it's so grey and cold here, I barely want to get up. I have a few jobs to do (lightbulbs to change and boring things like that), going to circuits class later and generally just staying indoors!

Good morning everyone

It's still very grey and rainy here. I didn't get out with the dog yesterday and that always makes me fed up by the end of the day. I know I've been doing very well this week so I had a little mini weigh in this morning and I've only lost half a pound so I'm foul. This usually sends me into an eating frenzy so I have to be careful today. I did lose 2 lbs in a couple of days before weigh in but really another half a pound only. I'm not very good at slimming obviously but I thought I'd had a very good week.

Last night's chicken dinner was absolutely lovely and most of it was vegetables so of course, although it was big, I was starving for the rest of the night. I had a few cereals before bed so that I wouldn't spoil the diet and then I find half a bloomin pound off. @thenewaveragebear1983 i'm in the mood you were in yesterday now 😡

This is also difficult when you think you're doing so well and trying so hard and then you don't lose nearly what you think you should. No wonder people give up, it's far too difficult. Having said that I'm not giving up.

TalkToTheHand123 · 15/02/2025 13:20

Hi all. I've just started a 24 hour shift and have 2 tubs of salads, three tubs of soup, some banans and some oranges to get me through.

I have some tins of fish in the cupboard and a packet of chicken in the freezer so plan to have this as my main food next week. There's a few packets of nuts in the cuboard also to use up.

I may research some recipes as I should start cooking some proper meals.

Sedgwick · 15/02/2025 14:02

Slept well and feel like a different person today. @TalkToTheHand123 that sounds very tough, you do sound very organised, good luck.

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/02/2025 10:02

Hi all. I succumbed to a 10inch Pollo pizza last night as I was lured by my customer buying one. It was nice but it gave me a bit of an upset tummy so hopefully this experience will put me off for next time!

I plan to keep at the soup and lemon tea, just need to try not to drink too much on a night time!

Hi, can I join you? I had been losing weight, but since going on insulin for my type two diabetes a year ago my weight has slowly crept up and then remained steady. Steady is better than gaining, but really I need to be losing weight. My main problem is portion size, I eat all the right stuff but about twice as much of it as I need.
