Hi all. It seems the scales are heading in the right sirection again. Another 1 or 2 lbs off since last week.

Trying to plan and be more wise on a night time. A few days off alcohol seems to be helping too.

Theredjellybean · 31/08/2024 20:22

I'm veering between excited and terrified.
I also just couldn't manage to find time to do the long runs in last month.
At least this marathon is a fun one with no pressure for times etc.

Storyland · 01/09/2024 08:36

Congrats @TalkToTheHand123 sounds like your plan is working.

Thanks @Sedgwick it was a lovely day

Weigh in today:10st. Good starting place for September

I've got another tricky week ahead with a lot of extra commitments. But I do want to get back to exercising and eating more sensibly again. Time to get out of holiday mode.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/09/2024 21:37

Good evening, it's been a really busy day today, and last night I drank too much and therefore was hungover and felt shit all day.

My big September relaunch starts tomorrow, I'm going to weigh in the morning and then put the scales away until 1st October. I've prepped some really hearty chunky broth and planned my meals. I've booked all my workouts for the week and I am ready to go!

I feel very very unhealthy after what had been a month of excess and completely off plan days. School holidays are always tricky but I really feel like I've gone off the rails the last few weeks. I just need a couple of good days on track to get my head back in the game! Lots of water, loads of veg, and good sleep.

Happy September everyone!

Morning... so dh and I ended our month of excess with wine last night (impromptu visitors with good news so.....) so of course I feel even more utterly dreadful today than I did yesterday. I dragged my sorry carcass around for a 5km run in the horrible muggy heat and sweated a bit out 🤮

And I weighed myself and it's a bigger number than I would have liked but probably as big as I deserve so I am going to take it like a (wo)man and get back on track to kick Septembers ass 🦵 🍑

Have a great Monday everyone!

Hi everyone

Just a really quick one. Sorry I've been absent but life has been mega busy. I'll go back and read your comments tomorrow.

I started again today. Of course I started again it's a new month and a Monday 😁. I'm going to start writing my weigh-ins down, I've no idea why but that helps.

I'll check in again tomorrow, sorry for the rushed post but hope you are all well and doing ok.

Theredjellybean · 03/09/2024 11:42

I'm feeling huge ..I'm starting again next Tuesday...after the marathon.
I'm so cross I'm lugging 8 more pounds round that 26.2 miles than I need to be ..but all set for September and autumnal austerity ( food and finances)

Theredjellybean · 03/09/2024 11:43

I am going on a very big holiday in November...very active and includes a big hike so I've got two months to lose the weight... really more like 10 lbs
I HAVE to do this ...

Storyland · 03/09/2024 20:11

Hello all, been a very busy couple of work days. I've logged 15,000 steps just from working and I've done a lot lifting tables and chairs so thinking that all counts as exercise.

But I have been surving on Pepsi and junk food snatched here and there so who knows how it all balances out. Looking forward to love getting back to normal tomorrow

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/09/2024 06:37

I had a good day yesterday, I stuck to calories at least (actually came in under target) but I did eat some biscuits in a very long boring meeting. What I didn't do was continue this feeding frenzy in the biscuit cupboard when I got home which is a very positive switch for me.

I'm still feeling really tired, I think it's the change in seasons and the mental load of back to school. I could do with a recharge, but annoyingly we are at a wedding this weekend that will be very boozy and I can already feel my precious Sunday being lost to being hungover.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2024 22:07

Yesterday, stuck to calories. Today, gone a fair bit over but I did run 5miles this morning and then did a PT session which basically involved me jogging with a 12kg kettlebell round the park and then stopping periodically to do various exercises for an hour. So I probably did need a few extra.

I've stuck to cals but my food quality has been pretty poor. I've had loads of things like rice cakes and cereal bars, a bit of chocolate, and bread. All rubbish really. My meals have been good. It's just everything else. Obviously it's Friday tomorrow and then Saturday we're at a wedding, but I really do need to clean my diet up from Sunday, looking at my food diary for today, it's all carbs and sugar.

I've had a really long week and I feel really tired, I am really going to try not to drink tomorrow so that I don't totally write the weekend off but we'll see how it actually pans out. I feel like I'm not really in my groove yet.

OP posts:
Storyland · 06/09/2024 07:02

I'm not in the groove yet either, @thenewaveragebear1983 . Last two weeks have just been too busy to get back into the right heads pace for losing weight. Just been dashing from one job to another. The house is a mess and I had a couple of near sleepless nights. Now I'm just frazzled.

Buuut it's Friday. Work is settling down a bit. And Friday is DH's and mine designated walking date night. I think a walk will do me a lot of good to clear my head and start the weekend with some gentle (but surprisingly effective) exercise.

Hope you all have a nice weekend ahead of you

poorpaws · 06/09/2024 18:26

Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry I still haven't found time to read your posts but I just wanted to pop in, apologise and explain.

We are working all hours in the garden to get it finished before the bad weather really starts. DP keeps telling me it's nearly done, we're nearly there, we're near the end and then finds loads more jobs that are desperate to be done. My partner is a perfectionist, likes everything right and at the moment is a right pain.

When we've finished a hard day in the garden, I'm absolutely exhausted at night and have been going to bed early. I think about you all regularly and wonder what you're doing and how you are coping with diet and exercise. My eating has been poor but my exercise good. I do feel really big at the moment but I haven't even had time to get on the scales.

I hope you are all doing well and I will be back soon because hopefully we're really are near the end. I'm beginning to dislike this back garden intensely. There's so much work to do and it's taking so much money and although it's beautiful part of me wishes we'd never started it. I'm sure next year when I've got all over all the hard work, I'll be delighted.

I'll be back soon, take care everyone.

poorpaws · 06/09/2024 18:49

So at last I've caught up, read all your posts and know all your news.

It's a mixed bag but on the whole you all seem to be doing quite well and I've decided that no matter how busy life is I'm going to read your posts daily and start trying to be much better with food and reporting in.

Have a great weekend everyone.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2024 19:05

I've not really tracked today. I had soup and rice cakes for lunch and some more rice cakes, cheese and ham slices for breakfast. I had a cereal bar in the afternoon. Dh and the kids are having a takeaway because dd is bringing her new boyfriend round tonight. I'm adjusting my halo and making a homemade version, I've done pork mince, loads of veg in sweet and sour and making some egg fried rice- there's enough for a few ready meals to freeze as well. I've decided I can't cut carbs, it doesn't work for me because I use so much energy exercising. But I need to massively improve the quality of the carbs I eat because all these cereal bars and bread and stuff just makes me crave pure sugary crap. So prepping and calorie counting some meals with measured carb portions is my mission!

In other news, dh said I'm looking very slim, I said I don't feel like I am, I feel really big, and he said "no, your face is looking really toned" - which I think is a compliment but really? I do all that work in the gym and it's my face that looks toned??? 🤣

OP posts:
Storyland · 07/09/2024 07:49

@poorpaws I bet you will love your garden next year! Hope the renovation goes smoothly and makes good progress.

@thenewaveragebear1983 ooh a toned face! How lovely 😆

I had a lovely walk with DH yesterday evening in the sunshine. I also resisted having red wine afterwards so I feel good about yesterday.

Today I'm looking after a friends child for most of the day, so am planning a little walk and picnic in the park.

DH has started buying sliced tiger bread and its good because everyone in the house likes it (was having to buy two different kinds of bread before) but it's bad because it is so lovely that I now want to eat bread all the time. A new temptation to resist

poorpaws · 07/09/2024 19:31

@thenewaveragebear1983 I love your compliment and I would love a toned face. You have worked so very hard this year I feel your disappointment but honestly a toned face is such a positive and well done to your DH for even noticing because I know my DP wouldn't.

@Storyland a walk and picnic in the park sounds lovely, I hope you enjoyed it.

I like tiger bread so much that I daren't buy it.

My eating is off the scale but exercise is still fairly good. I found myself outside in the rain directing DP which plants went into which pots until I realised how crazy this was and dragged him inside. Now I feel cross that that's yet another job started but unfinished.

DP has been working so hard outside. One corner of the patio has been holding water, just where I hang washing out, so he's been sorting out drainage pipes etc and I just hope he's sorted it. I cannot tell you how happy I will feel when we finally finish this mammoth project.

I'm supposed to be meeting SIL for lunch tomorrow but apparently we have very heavy rain most of the day and the cafes grill is broken so a lot of food is unavailable. I think we might postpone until next Sunday.

I really do need to get back into the zone but life has been so busy and I just want to eat my way through the evenings until it's time for bed. Also I always drink black coffee without sugar and I've recently been drinking latte sachets and I drink far too many in a day and this could be yet another reason for weigh gain <sigh>

Enjoy whats left of Saturday and have a great Sunday.

Theredjellybean · 08/09/2024 07:44

Hello all....well I did it !
I ran a marathon....I'm still slightly shocked with myself and I can honestly say it was tough...
But I had such a fun time with my daughter and the whole event is really crazy...the costumes were hysterical. A lot of very pert young men in teeny tiny swim trunks...the theme was "bring your games" so lots of people dressed as Olympic swimmers ..it was quite ummm.... motivating having them running Infront of us
The wine tasting was lush but I think I won't drink red wine for some time.
I have eaten huge amounts of white carbs and having taken immodium in huge quantities to stop my runners diarrhea I now .quite bloated.
Looking forward to my rest/restart September...I have 4 maybe better say 5 kgs to get off.

Theredjellybean · 08/09/2024 07:44

I will lose a gram or two when my damaged toenails drop off😂

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2024 07:59

@Theredjellybean oh I was thinking about you, I thought your run was today!! Amazing 🤩 well done you 👏 👏

We went to a wedding last night, lots of wine, not brilliant food, lots of dancing. We left at 11 and I'm so glad because I did actually sleep and feel ok today, just a little frayed round the edges. But I have eaten so so so much bread/toast yesterday and today. Slice after slice. I really must snap out of this funk.

I have Worcester half marathon next Sunday so this week I need to up my game, eat properly, feel a bit healthier all round really. I feel really sluggish and bloated.

OP posts:
Storyland · 08/09/2024 08:49

Congratulations @Theredjellybean ! I cannot imagine running a marathon. It's an amazing achievement.

Sunday is my official Weigh in day. I am 9st12. Which is back to my pre holiday weight. I've been overwhelmed this last couple of weeks with stuff. But yesterday late afternoon I lit some candles, read my book then settled in to watch old Seinfeld episodes and recharged my batteries. Im feeling more relaxed this morning.

My diary isn't as full now so I have more time and head space to lose weight. I'm making a little plan for the week.
Sunday: run
Tuesday: rowing machine
Friday: walk
Saturday: run

Sedgwick · 08/09/2024 09:29

@Theredjellybean congratulations on running a marathon.

It’s been a bad week for me, too much wine and bread and late nights. After a day of looking after DD (recuperating after operation on her arm) I hit the sofa and open a bottle of wine. I need to lose 4 - 6 lbs now. My face is puffy! Today is usual family roast, I will try to fill up on the veg, driving this evening which will stop me drinking wine. Back in the gym tomorrow and going to try for no alcohol for the rest of September.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2024 21:10

Urgh I have eaten so much carby hangover food today, I feel YUCK. I have absolutely got to stop this, it's madness.

I've done my shop today, lots of healthy things. I've made a sugar free banana loaf and bought some ready meals that I have in the freezer, (they are from Asda's range that's a copy of gym kitchen) which I will have for lunches to have something hot at lunch and more filling than salad. But I really do just need to stick to it properly and get back into the zone.

I can't do many gym classes this week and k have a race on Sunday so I need to not be feeling sluggish and horrible.

OP posts:
Storyland · 09/09/2024 07:04

@Sedgwick hope your DD is recovering well. I've also had a weekend of bread and wine and need to ease off now.

@thenewaveragebear1983 well done on being prepped for the week. I think having a plan really helps.

OK. I am officially re-entering the zone today. Going to do food shop after work. No more wine. Reduce snacks and portion size. Hit 10,000 steps every day. Exercise 3 times a week. All simple stuff. I can do it. Here we go!

Theredjellybean · 09/09/2024 07:34

I'm with you @Storyland
Though still in France so my reventering the zone is tomorrow.
