Large calorie window?

Not sure if this makes sense?

I feel there's quite a big range for me to maintain weight but I really have to eat a very low calorie count to lose.

I 5:2 or 4:3 but only lose if I also do 1,200 calories on non fast days. But if I don't count calories I don't gain just maintain. Unless I have Christmas or holidays when I might gain 2/3 pounds. The rest of the time I'm losing or gaining the same 1 -3 pounds per week.

I'm post menopause and (medicated) under active thyroid.

I'm trying to get to a sweet spot of losing 1 maybe 2 pounds a week over several weeks. Not expecting linear loss.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Yeah I think I understand what you mean OP. Have you read about the "weight set point" theory? I think I came across it in the "why we eat (too much)" book by Andrew Jenkinson but I daresay there's plenty about it online, might give you some ideas?
