Just that really has it worked and over how long? I am desperate to start but so nervous about it - feels like a massive step... My BMI is 37, we can just about afford it - I'm good at the exercise side of things, I just eat too much and do well for a few weeks then fall off wagon and go round and round like this. Early signs of peri-menopause is NOT helping!!

61/2 stone in just over 12 months but it still involves calorie counting. Much easier as you don’t feel hunger but you still need to monitor what you eat.

Wow that is amazing and would be a dream for me to be able to say that this time next year!! Well done. I can calorie count ok. My cravings/ hunger associated with PMT is a real issue - does it help with that?

I think so. I know different people have different reactions but it curtailed my hunger from day 1. I actually can’t remember what feeling hungry feels like now.

I went from a BMI of 32 last August to 25 by February of this year, and am happy and stable at this weight. I'm fairly muscular, so my doctor says I don't need to lose anymore.

I don't think the source of your hunger will be a problem. These drugs mimic a hormone your stomach produces when it is very full. It tells your brain to stop eating with that "I can't possibly eat another bite feeling".

That's brilliant, well done! Even at my healthiest (I used to run marathons!) I was always between 24 and 25, so that's what I am aiming for now. Thank you - I'm anxious but also keen to give this a go...

Are people replying taking M or W?

MissConductUS · 22/04/2024 22:34

I’m on Wegovy. They are very similar drugs.

0kg loss in 12 weeks on wegovy (started on a higher dose as switched from saxenda). No side effects either really, I just didn't respond and it did not affect my appetite at all.

6kg loss in 8 weeks on Mounjaro, only on 5mg and it's working a treat so far. Makes making better choices so much easier to stick to (eg smaller portion sizes, no snacking).

No way to predict how anyone is going to respond really

Hey! BMI of 40 here and I had tried over and over to lose weight but couldn’t for the life of me stick with it. I done lots of research on Mounjaro and decided to go with that one, I ordered through Voy on Saturday and it’s arriving today. I’m very nervous to try it out but I’ve read through hours and hours of similar women’s stories on here and realised I have nothing to lose other than to try! I have calculated how much I would spend on wine and junk food each month and it disgusted me so I absolutely can afford this if I cut out all of that. I have a 50% off code for Voy which I wish I had when I ordered but I think it reduces it down to £113 or so. There’s several huge threads on Mounjaro specifically and I’ve just joined the April starters one so you have people going through it at the same time as you. Good luck on your journey!

I’ve been on Mounjaro for 9 weeks and lost 24lb. I am eating 1400 calories a day (reduced from when I started) which I’m finding easy to stick to. Not many people on here have been on it for more than 3 months as it’s so new.

It’s possible I may need to stay on a maintenance dose for life but too early to say as the drug is so new to the U.K.
