Huel/attempt to lose weight

HAF1119 · 19/04/2024 22:33

Moving the thread from previous location as we were using an old thread!

A few of us either currently using/considering using Huel to aid in weight loss and just discuss anything from flavours to struggles as well as a weekly weigh in for those who want to do it

Anyone welcome if considering using Huel in anyway for a weight loss journey

Let's go for a weekly weigh in on a Friday so we aren't doing it after possible weekend cheats!

My start weight in Jan 2024 20st 1lb
Weight at weigh in 19/04 18st 7lb
Target weight 14st

I'm up 0.5kg but didn't make a huge effort this week as have been trying to rest a bit more. Didn't eat any crap though (no sweets/biscuits etc) but daughter baked a load of stuff for work and left the rest here and that was my downfall! She has found a room in a house and is moving out in a few weeks time so there will be no more baking temptations then

@Fluffywithteeth is that out of the vegetable stage and into the meal stage? I only briefly looked at that one but did see a lot of people having success with it!

I've pre made a salad for me and ds for lunch to try and be good today and have a pasta and roasted vegetable bake for dinner

Ahhh... baked goods... the wonderful evil 🤣 and don't these people know that when they're home baked they're literally impossible to resist?! Bless you

@HAF1119 thats excellent you’ve got the underlying reason there - that must be quite a relief and hopefully a little top up will help you 🤞🏼

I've read it can take 6 months to start having a more normal metabolism, I'm hoping it's sooner, I really want to lose a chunk before I go on holiday end of august (so the all inclusive doesn't have such a massive impact at least 🤣)

Wow no wonder it has been so tough for you! You poor thing. I hope they can sort the right dose out quickly

I have had dreadful sugar cravings today. We have no sweets in the house but I went out to get some which is so unlike me. I am in the week before my period and these cravings have got a lot worse in perimenopause despite HRT (and I'm 51, how much fecking longer do I have to go through this!!).

Have ordered a book on why these cravings happen. I need a way of dealing with them that doesn't involve 3 packs of haribo 😂

HAF1119 · 07/06/2024 15:24

God I'd love some haribo right now though! Am not doing a weigh in today, a break from it for a couple of weeks :)

Hope you are all going good!

Good idea @HAF1119

I ordered the Glucose Goddess book and feel now suitably informed about my cravings

I've had egg and avocado on rye bread for breakfast for the 2nd day in a row and no cravings so far and I'm pre menstrual so I'd normally be dying for sugar now

Can't say this is easy but hopefully it works!

RacingLine · 08/06/2024 09:02

Hope everyone is well too and not knee deep in the haribo 😂

Okay! May be one I have to try, I'm getting sick to death of huel 🤣 🤣

How much egg/avo do you use? X

OP posts:
RacingLine · 08/06/2024 10:48

I had 2 eggs and an avocado but I suspect I probably should have had half that 😳

Haha, the good news is I'm not keen enough on avocado to eat a whole one I'd only manage a half.. so it can go on my options list! :) 2 eggs all the way though.. I cannot have only one egg as any form of meal...

Hence I got to 20 stone.. 🤣 in fact I'd quite like to have 3.... but 2 I can deal with

Forgot to mention we had a plumber at the house on Friday. He saw the Huel in the kitchen. He's been on a Huel diet since the start of the year and has lost 3 stone! He said he starts every day with Huel black and it fills him up so much, it's stopping him eating crap to fill himself up while he's out and about. He said it's transformed his health.

HAF1119 · 23/06/2024 12:30

How are you all doing?

I am now - start weight 20st 1lb, current weight 17st 13lb

Having 17st at the start felt really good!!

You should be @HAF1119 !!
Yeah pretty good. Now down to 65.3 having started at 73.7 (and that’s after a couple of weeks of new regime as I couldn’t look!!) am finding the pain / gain ratio of the diet pretty good so can see this being along term way of eating. Another 5 to go! X

Morning everyone.
Weight loss has stalled so have been looking at huel this morning and I need the protein. Also recent diagnosis of gallstones so need to rest gallbladder as much as possible.

Which flavour is best?
I think the black huel is the highest protein, is anyone having that one.

Welcome! I am not actually doing huel anymore but it really helped me for a while (just can't afford it at the moment!)

Depends on your taste - how sweet do you like things? Huel is quite sweet so a lot of people do 1 scoop unflavoured 1 scoop flavour. I liked the salted caramel and just did 2 scoops of that. I also liked the banana but that one needed a scoop of unflavoured. And strawberries and cream was pretty nice but again I did an unflavoured with it.

I'm not a chocolate or coffee sort of person though so it really depends on your taste :)

Oh sorry - also yes I had the black one. I ended up for quite a long time doing huel milkshake morning, huel ready meal lunch, normal food @ 400cals dinner

Yes I did Huel to get me started now doing human being diet. Thought Huel was excellent though. I mixed 50/50 plain black with I think caramel or coffee (again the black range) otherwise was too sweet for me. Also found all the meals pretty good. Good luck!!

Sunshineandrainbow · 29/06/2024 21:13

Great idea to mix with the unflavoured as I wouldn't like them too sweet either.
I will give them a try, thankyou.

Oh! And adding crushed ice to it makes it feel more filling - or it did for me! I'd blend the powder with water, add a handful of spinach, and a handful of crushed ice - then it was great! I know others who make then leave in the fridge an hour to thicken - I just didn't have the patience for that and liked it being like a chilly milkshake!

My weekly check in (better late than never)

Start weight 20st 1lb
Current weight 17st 12lb

Weekly loss 1lb

Happy with that! Mine is going to be slow as anything with having a thyroid issue - never know it might pick up when the meds kick in!

Hi everyone

I have just come across your thread after I was looking for inspiration and motivation to once again restart my Huel journey tomorrow (it’s never today 😂).
I discovered Huel about 5yrs ago but have never managed to get past day 5 of the stuff. We have a love/hate relationship.
I have put on sooooo much weight this year and find myself just stuffing my face with ice cream, chocolate etc and not getting very far from the tv/sofa. I need help and hope joining you all in your Huel weight loss journeys will keep me focused.
I have Huel white powder salted caramel and banana (mix 50/50) usually for breakfast and lunch.
for dinner I have H&S - either chicken and mushroom, bolognaise or Carbonara.
i also have 2 delicious chocolate fudge brownies as snacks.
Huel does state not to do 100% Huel but I am unable to eat like any apparently normal person as I have no stop switch. I also usually get really bad headaches which I have been told is due to dehydration so try and drink loads of water.
i will post my stats tomorrow if I dare get on the scales 🫣

HAF1119 · 18/07/2024 18:53

@HollieLondon hi!

I'm currently in a bit of a bad financial situation so off the huel buuuuut - consider perhaps making one of your meals a calorie controlled hot meal with some salad - e.g. if you do an online shop at all and type in 'calorie' you'll get a load of ready meal style options for 400cal or less. Having a lasagne and side salad is actually really nice and helps to keep you feeling full (as well as having something with a little less protein which Huel has a lot of and the high fibre and protein can cause stomach issues)

Just an idea that worked well for me!! Feel free to post a weekly weigh in!! I'm static at present as largely living on cheap food but will one day get back to the healthy life!!

Hello! Is this thread still going? I just started Huel 2 days ago.
