Complete Wedding Panic. Help!

My child is getting married abroad this summer. I bought a beautiful dress from Vinted, so not too spendy but I love it, and have a matching fasinator etc. When the dress arrived I couldn't do the zip up the back. I didn't worry too much though, as after all, I had months to lose the weight.....

Now I have 15 weeks to go and the zip is still nowhere near doing up. I have lost 10 pounds, but seem to have stalled. Hand on heart, I track my cals (around 1550), my protein (120g) and my fibre (30g), I track but still go madly off plan at times. I'm still in that being good/bad mindset with food, and when I am "bad" I go really off the rails, which of course sabotages my weight loss.

I have a lot of weight to lose, over 50 pounds and I am post menopausal. I do 3-4 yoga sessions a week, and 2 Pilates, but other than that I am pretty inactive. I don't work, so have no excuse.

Any ideas of what I can do to try and get that bloody zip up?? I can definitely get more steps in per day, (I'm on nearly 9k this evening so definitely room for improvement there. I have an exercise bike which I never go on, plus a gym membership, but I tend to just do the classes I like. I also have 1, maybe 2 weeks abroad booked in the 15 weeks, plus a weekend away. Am I doomed? I really want to wear the dress, it's gorgeous. What can I reasonably hope for in this time frame? No slimming club suggestions please, I've been there and done that, and don't want the added expense.

For a quick weight loss it's probably worth doing keto for a month. It'll be tough but at least you have an incentive!

Swap a couple of your yoga or pilates classes each week to something slightly more high energy like legs bums and tums or zumba. It will help with weight loss and toning.

Walk. Every day. Doesn't matter about shoes, route, speed, distance, just walk.

Try to rein in the time off plan and do allow yourself treats, if they fit the plan

I would start looking around for a seamstress to let the zip out. book an appointment about 3 weeks from the wedding, if you get into the dress great, if you don’t then you have a back up.

For weight loss walk more, a lot more and aim to eat clean not falling off the wagon.

have a calendar up on the fridge and a photo of the dress so you can mark off each day and remind yourself it’s not forever and the dress is to remind you why you are doing it.

How do you get 120g protein on 1550 cals?

Im struggling to get up to 60 although on lower cals

favouriteyellowsocks · 15/04/2024 21:21

This happened to me for my actual wedding. I thought I had ages then suddenly I had to lose weight or not wear my dress.
Anyway.. I cut carbs. I ran every day or did a workout dvd for 20 minutes and cut rice pasta bread potatoes and booze.
Good luck

Agree with this tbh

How about trying the Fast 800, there is a fasting board and a few threads some of us are posting on as we want to lose weight fast for a short term goal.

This. Unless it’s tuna for every meal :-)

Buy a different dress that fits you. (Sell the other one if necessary)

Absolutely this!

Thanks for the replies. Definitely going to up the walking, and heading to the gym tomorrow to get on the cross trainer before my yoga class.

For those asking about my protein input, here's today's figures in case it helps.....

Total 1440 cals, 127g protein

I made up a batch of egg muffins, 3 eggs, (18g) mixed with a pot of quark (36g), and 13g of Parmesan (4g). I ate 3 for breakfast and 3 for lunch.

For dinner I had 165g of salmon (41g), with cauliflower (3G), that I'd mixed in Greek yogurt (6g) and roasted. I ate some peas with it (1g)

For dessert I had 150ml of Alpro chocolate protein milk in a bowl ( 9g) mixed with 30g of chia seeds (6g) plus some raspberries, cherries and all bran (3g)

I appreciate the requests to buy a new dress are the most sensible, but I'm loathe to give upon this one without a fight.

Honestly? I’d get another dress.

Stick with your efforts, but the pressure is off. You’ll never lose the weight in that time.

Keep the lovely dress for the next occasion, and get something lovely bit that fits for this one 😊

HummingbirdChandelier · 15/04/2024 22:34

Oops, sorry 🙈

Speak to your local One2One Cambridge diet rep - you can definitely do it. Forget the exercise plan though, it’s all about what you eat. You won’t be hungry on it, and you will see results. You’ll feel amazing and that dress will slip on!

I have around 1600 cals a day and usually get to around 120/130g protein per day. A lot of things have protein in. Cheese, milk, even bread/wraps usually have some and it all adds up

Yesterday I had a wholmeal pitta which has 6g, with chicken in it (roughly 35g protein in 110g chicken) so that was over 40g just for a chicken salad pitta which was 324 calories and I had a couple of babybels

I do eat mostly chicken as I don't like much other meat, but it can be done. Especially if you like things like eggs, chicken, tuna, cheese etc
