After dieting on and off all my life, I'm bigger than ever and worried about my health. I know that some people will say that starting yet another diet isn't the answer, but I can't just give up and let my health suffer. I've been recently doing Slimpod, and while I like the idea, I haven't lost any weight and nor have most of the people on the FB group either. Even with calorie counting I'm rubbish - too much freedom to make the wrong choices perhaps.

I have a big health appointment in July and I'd like to lose some weight before then. I know Slimming World gets a bad rep, but I thought this might be the way without being hungry all the time. I really can't go to the meeting though - I hate the format and find all the clapping etc intolerable. I looked again at online, but you have to pay for 3 months upfront - £60. There is no single month option. This is a lot of money and I'm worried I'll pay it and not stick to it. I'd rather take it a month at a time

So my question is, does anybody do it alone without the online app? I have old books from past meetings. Or can anyone suggest anything else, please?

I hate the fact that they do this, because they allow you to pay per month once you renew. They should let new people pay per month as well so you can try it, you may not get on with it and then you've wasted £60

Can you go to one class, get the books then do it with support on here?

That would be cost effective.

You pay by the week - you could choose to do another class, or three, til you are confident. You can leave after the weigh in if you want to.

I did it on zoom because of Covid. Lost a lot of weight. Kept it off almost a year then had a set back. I’m still about 4 stone lighter than I was and moving in the right direction again.

I have found it overall sensible. Like everything else you can turn it into disordered eating- we wouldn’t need to go if we weren’t that way inclined!
