Hello
Not quite sure why I am posting but I am going on holiday in 8 weeks and I am the heaviest I have ever been.

I need to lose 3 stone and I know I can't lose that in that time but please tell me I can lose at least 1 stone. I will still feel gross but not near as gross as I feel now. I am a huge comfort eater.

I am trying to do 1200 kcal and low ish carbs and upping my exercise gently

Please tell me I can Blush

I am sure you can but where did you come up with 1200 calories? It’s really not a lot of food unless you are very short. Did you work out your TDEE and -300-500 from that?

I know it’s not what you want to hear but I strongly advise against going on a crash diet of 1200 kcal, especially if you’re a comfort eater. The scenario that after 8 weeks of starving yourself you reward yourself on holiday and return home heavier than before and with more bad habits around food is quite real.

Try to eat better and within a small calorie deficit and up the exercise seriously. In 8 weeks you will be able to feel the benefits of cleaner diet and the exercise on your holiday.

Look at the Fast800 - it's a short-term programme, based on very low calorie and also low-ish carb - for a limited period of time. You should easily be able to lose a stone in 8 weeks.

But read up on it, so that you understand the science behind it, and why it works as well as how you continue after the 8 weeks.

Last year I lost a good chunk of weight quickly doing lazy keto/low carb which I think is similar to Mediterranean type diets. Cut out most sugars and alcohol. Lots of fish and meat for main meals. Greek yoghurt for breakfast, bits of cheese for snacks, no pasta, rice or bread, some fruits (eg berries). Have just veg as sides for dinner, and a protein with salad for lunch, lots of water. Keep an eye on calories in as well, don't eat back what you lose through walking or exercise.

It's the only diet I've ever lost weight on quickly. WW, SW etc never worked for me. A friend started low carb recently and lost 9lb in her first 2 weeks which was a great kick start for her. She's on track to lose another 4-5lb this week. Another friend did the 'new you' plan for a few weeks which is shakes and bars, lost half a stone within 2 weeks, it worked great for her but I never get on with that kind of diet, I need to feel full and keto gives me that satisfied feeling because the protein is filling.
