What's your Easter strategy? 🍫🐇🥚

(Inspired by a similar post around Christmas time which I can't find any more but which was really useful at the time) how is everyone going to approach the coming few days in terms of chocolate? 🍫

Total abstinence vs. having the day off? Having the whole holiday off, even? Sneaking the smarties from the kids' eggs? Dark chocolate only? Buns or no buns? Crème eggs or scrambled eggs?

I went for two days off over Christmas, failed, and subsequently gained over the whole holiday! 😔

I'm going to enjoy myself Easter Saturday and Sunday. Then I'm away with family and I'm going to try and be sensible. I go to slimming world weigh ins and I'm going to aim to go to one on Monday 8th April and I'm hoping that in my mind will stop me from self sabotage! I've lost 17 pounds since Christmas and I'd hate to pile it all back on over Easter

We've eaten our eggs already so my strategy is not to buy anymore to replace them!

Mintearo7 · 29/03/2024 10:27

Weigh my choc - equal to 150cals per day. I’m not bothered about the other stuff. I’m home for 8 days and usually go into goblin mode when I’m there so need to spread the treats out.

I went for very dark chocolate easter egg that I will only manage a small bit at a time.
DS1 has an amazing memory so his smaller eggs from a hunt he knows exactly how many he has and his little brothers so no cheating there!

I am not planning on eating any eggs but if I end up eating the odd few mini eggs that’s fine. The calories in chocolate bloody annoy me 😂 you don’t get much bang for your buck. I don’t partake in ‘cheat days’ but at weekends I can be more relaxed about having a bag of crisps or an ice cream or something. I usually just eat the same foods I eat during the week. I am using the time off work to exercise and get outside during daylight hours, something that is a luxury as I am usually at work all day.

I won’t eat a hot cross bun, I do like them, but I am having a family roast dinner so I will eat the meat/veg from that and probably be sensible

I used to binge on sugar so it’s better I don’t have full days off the wagon as I have really worked hard to not binge and have small occasional things with high cals/sugar in moderation so I try to just see it like any other day of the week and nothing special. This is just for my own preference I am not judging anyone who does anything otherwise I am wary of how much I trust myself yet, I think it takes time to adapt to not binging. I still get urges but I don’t give in to them

at Christmas I had covid so I was in bed for days and didn’t even want to eat anything so that did me a favour. Holidays are really challenging though because it is not always easy to find the types of foods I usually eat so I am wondering how my holidays will go this year, not from a sugar point of view but overall calorie intake.

Strictly no partaking...sticking to the diet.

TBH it isnt even hard for me! I hate raisins so no buns, am vegan and the chocolate is so expensive its usually not worth the effort.
Plus not religious, no kids and tend to work through bank holidays so its all just another day for me!

(christmas I dealt with by treating myself to a giant, unhealthy take away and calling it quits!!).

Keeping busy and enjoying the time off with family - on Friday we went trail cycling for the whole day and returned in the pouring rain, today we went to visit an alpaca farm and went trekking with alpacas. We also made a meal plan for each day, I always do because I hate grocery shopping and I allocated some treats within my calorie budget. I didn’t plan to buy anything sweet for myself but I got a massive Easter egg filled with treats from work, so I’m slowly getting through it and sharing with family.

Spending a lot of time outside and meal planning is what works for me.

I made a devonshire apple cake. Bought no chocolate. We don't celebrate easter! After all, it is nothing but a chocolate festival

waistchallenge · 31/03/2024 08:09

Deeply offensive comment there, @SwordToFlamethrower. Not to mention not true and ignorant.

If I were you would be embarrassed to have said such a thing.

@waistchallenge I had no strategy and ended up eating my Lindt truffles and half my egg last night. My strategy is now to go for a run and get back on track.

@SwordToFlamethrower mmmm apple cake. I bought some rhubarb reduced and I was going to make a rhubarb and custard crumble cake but after last nights choc fest I don’t trust myself now.

If you don't celebrate Easter I don't know why you even commented on the thread, really.
