Berberine - any one else taking instead of Ozempic? Or Wegovy?

Hello
One of my aunties recommended I take Berberine as instead of getting Ozempic for appetite control, has anyone here tried it? If yes, which brand did you take?

I got one on Amazon - only used it for a week as I started to get an increased heart rate and my dr advised to stop. I’m only 33 and size 12-14 with no underlying conditions so not sure why I had that side effect. I did find my cravings had stopped but not sure if I I just imagined it. Haha

I ordered some recently and am starting it today as I've heard a lot of good things about it. I have PCOS and apparently it can be effective for helping that. I ordered mine from Warrior Supplements

Im on Day 3 of taking it and the food noise has gone down by at least 50%. I feel healthier. It hasnt stopped me from eating, instead I am not so overwhelmed with thoughts of food anymore :-)

I'm so excited I have been posting on all the threads!!! I am 2.2 pounds down in 7 days on Berberine 1000g and Glucomannan 1000mg. I just couldn't finish my dinner. I haven't been exercising either 🤐😀

I'm going to start exercising and see if it moves the scale any faster

I'm 43 and weigh 225 🙈

For the past 4 months nothing I did moved the scale! Nothing

I've taken berberine as a supplement on and off over a number of years. It is NOT a magic bullet. I think it has helped me marginally, alongside a calorie/nutritionally controlled diet and exercise plan. I.e. all the boring normal stuff everyone says every day.

Ditto Glucommanan someone else mentioned.

GinForBreakfast · 07/04/2024 20:09

Sorry, OP also mentioned Glucommanan. Again, not a magic bullet.

Rennypie03 · 07/04/2024 20:11

Interesting. Well between Glucomannan and Berberine one of them has turned down the food noise significantly for me 😆 and made me actually feel like working out......So I'm still back to Eat less Move More but now with a lot of motivationFlowersFootball

How are you getting on op? I have started Berberine as Mounjaro made me incredibly ill with gastro issues...

Rennypie03 · 13/05/2024 15:50

@ClimbingMounjaro well I lost 12 pounds in a month along with averaging 18 hours to 20 hour fasts

Then something happened? I have gained back almost 5 pounds as I just from no where started eating more. I don't have "food noise" but I guess my husband filled up the house with my friends granola and tortilla and I went crazy. Back on it now

I know this is an old thread but I get berberine from British Supplements too.

From what I understand it works in a wholly different way to weight loss injections so for those of us with an already slow metabolism it doesn't cause more issues on stomach emptying speeds.

Movinghouseatlast · 20/02/2025 10:44

I tried it for 3 months and it did nothing. Ditto gluco whatsit.
