Hi

I have a wedding to go to in August. I have 5 stone to lose in total (obviously not all by then). I have been fat so long and don’t know where to start. Calorie counting/low carb/keto/sw/ww I keep hearing how good/bad some are and now my head is swimming and just don’t know where to start.

can anyone give me any suggestions?

You will get as many suggestions as there are replies. The most import thing is that you can stick to whatever you choose to do (they all work) and perhaps second to that that you believe in the principles.

Slimming World provides support and accountability if you like groups although the diet is perhaps not what is currently in fashion.

Are you willing to commit to counting everything eg calorie counting or weight watchers or to giving up food groups - keto/low carb. Or, my favourite, stick to some simple strict rules about when you eat No S diet or I guess intermittent fasting.

Thanks For your reply @RunningAndSinging i think my mind has been muddled by so many years of syns/ good carbs/bad carbs that it felt my like head was spinning. The irony is I started dieting when I was a few pounds overweight and by trying/not sticking to diets I have put on a stack of weight combined with illness that stopped me e excising and working plus studying.
just want to get healthy.

Calories in, calories out.

Take your height, weight and age and put it into a TDEE calculator. Start calorie counting a normal day of food, and make adjustments to cut calories. Start moving a bit more (but don't eat back those calories)

I also suggest reading Why We Eat (too much) by Andrew Jenkinson. It explains what you are taking about with the first diet being the start of our problems.
