Coming in late from work - what am I supposed to eat?

I get in from work every Wednesday at about 9.30ish.
I need to lose weight and have read enough to know I've got to watch what I eat at this time.
I usually end up making toasted sandwiches and then have a biscuit or two or if I'm really desperate a Chinese takeaway. (I started work at 9am)
What can I eat at 9.30 that will fill the empty space in my stomach but not be too bad for me?

Can you make a big batch of soup and freeze it in portions? Quite quick to cook when you come home (if taken from freezer in the morning). Seems quite late to have a heavy meal (unless you can manage to stay up later than I can ). If I am trying to be careful about what I eat I find it's quite good and filling. There are nice shop bought ones obviously, but I find that they are usually quite high in calories, so home made better if aiming for weight loss.

Is there any way you can build a more filling but nutritious meal into your work day?

I am thinking of pitta bread/salad/lean meat or if you have access at work to a microwave having a jacket potato with tuna/baked beans, that kind of thing?

I do have lunch around 1 but by the time I get home I want to EAT. Partly its hunger and sometimes its to unwind and my dp likes to have biscuits with tea at this time of night.

I did actually have soup tonight cos we had some left from the week-end rather than making sandwiches or finishing off a pasta dish but it did make me think.

May be sometimes soup, sometimes scramble egg without a toast with a salad, sometimes salad - lot's of different vegies with a simple dressong - little olive oil, lemon juice, pepper, sometimes soft boiled egg with cucumber or poridge with some berries on top - there is no reason why you can't have poridge in the evening unless you follow no carbs after 5 diet or no carbs diet. you might find some ideas if you google something like 'light suppers' and see whether it will appeal to you. Good luck!
