I'll join you. Losing 3 stone would take me back to my Uni weight which would be amazing but I can't get my head around being that thin ever again. A stone will do or even 8lbs.

I'll
Join if that's ok

TheWood · 10/03/2024 18:43

I will join too.

Hi. I'm in my 60s. 3 stone would take me down to a reasonable weight. (I should be a bit lighter, but a GP has told me that 12st 7 would be a realistic weight for a woman of my age.

Thus far, I've got down from 16st 4 to 15st 4. I'm 5ft 9 and a size 20.

I'm not fit for an hour a day, but I'll aim for a total of half an hour at the moment, if that's not too wimpish.

I've been going to a weekly 'Active for Health' class that my physio referred me to - I exercise for about 45minutes there. I'm surprised that I've managed it, to be honest. I feel better for it immediately afterwards, but I usually suffer the next day.

I'll join in, if that's okay?

Oh lovely thanks for joining me!
It doesn't have to be a whole hour.
Just thinking that's what I want to comit to each day.
So could be 1/2 hr of swimming and 1/2 hr cycling.
Or 45 mins yoga and 20 min dog walk.

🙌👍

I think that it'll be walking in my case.

When I do my weekly, my cardio is a mixture of walking pace on the treadmill - 6kph - and some time on the cross trainer.

The rest of the time it's working with light weights - 2k - and bands.

You can walk! Walking is very underestimated and a great start for getting fit and burning calories - an hour a day is doable

My problem is a combination of arthritis and patella alta, so I do a little at a time. Some days, walking is no bother to me; other days, it can be difficult.

My consultant has told me to avoid stairs and slopes.

MermaidGin · 11/03/2024 08:53

Morning!
I went fir a swim at 7:30. Managed 1/2 hour and feel much more positive about starting my working day.
Going to aim to be on my standing desk and not sit in the same position all day.
Will aim for a lunchtime dog walk!

A good start as I went for a 20 min walk at lunchtime. But then my journey home took over 2hrs rather than 40 mins which messed up the evening and meant I was straight into cooking duty when I got home rather than dashing straight out.
Tomorrow, I'm in meetings for 10hrs so, with travel time on top, that's going to be a bit of a challenge too!
I'm feeling optimistic about Wednesday at the moment

MermaidGin · 11/03/2024 22:45

@dancinginthewind it's fitting it in isn't it sometimes that's the challenge.

I just did 20 mins of yoga. To try and chill out before bed.

I've not sat too much today and feeling better for that. Standing desk really helps.
