Day 1 of a one month Wegovy honest review

Kookoo42 · 07/03/2024 09:40

Starting today with the weekly injection. Am 55, really have tried so hard to shift my meno weight - only intending to do this for one month. Will post up once a week, weight, plus any side effects.

Starting weight 68.6kg.

Fingers crossed! xx

Are you very short? That doesn't seem like a weight that requires Wegovy. It's not something that's taken for a month because the first month is a loading dose. Where did you get the prescription?

Hoglet70 · 07/03/2024 10:51

OP is 10 stone 8 for anyone who can't be arsed to work it out so unless you are very short @Kookoo42 , I also wonder why you are going to this extreme.

Will be interested to read the thread though. I can't think of anything worse than taking something that might make me ill when it's not prescribed by a doctor for a good medical reason so I love reading about people's experiences and why they are actually doing this to themselves. Good luck!

That's my goal weight and I'm 5 foot 2.

Most places won't prescribe unless you have a high BMI. I also had to send photos of my fatness.

Menora · 07/03/2024 17:06

It takes more than a month to have a good effect it’s not really intended to be a short term fix to lose a few lbs

Your biggest issue will be quitting after 1 month and suddenly being very hungry and gaining weight back unless you change your lifestyle. A month isn’t really long enough to form long term new habits

bluefrog11 · 07/03/2024 17:49

Quite a few people recently in our wider circle who, having struggled with weight for years, have suddenly lost 3 stone “like that!” Obviously none admitting to wegovy and all fibbing that it’s some miracle diet. None were what I’d call obese so they are getting it from somewhere, who knows how!?! Lots of cash thrown at it I suspect!

Candyfloss99 · 07/03/2024 17:55

The first month is to get your body used to it. Nobody is supposed to use it for just one month. It's not a quick fix. It's for obese people with lots of weight to lose. Not someone who will have lost enough weight after one month.

MiltonNorthern · 07/03/2024 17:57

Well you've just wasted £200 and given yourself constipation 🙄 wegovy starting dose is barely therapeutic and you probably won't see much impact until month 3. You also don't weigh enough to be prescribed it so how your experience is going to help anyone who genuinely would benefit I don't know!

ChanelNo19EDT · 07/03/2024 17:59

Wow, December 2023 I was 70 kilos 9 months later I was 62 kilos so, very slow, nobody will wonder if it was a miracle drug.

Interested to see if u can lose in a month what took me 9 moths! Let us know if you feel hunger when you stop.

Kookoo42 · 08/03/2024 12:10

I am short but I also have other health conditions that I need to lose some weight for which I didn't mention.

MiltonNorthern · 08/03/2024 12:38

But you aren't obese (unless you're about 4ft 9) so you still don't meet the criteria for wegovy regardless of other health issues? So did you lie to the prescriber?

I completely understand why you feel like this about wegovy, but you might as well piss in the wind. Humans are extremely prone to overeating, unless we had a deep urge to eat everything that was available to us we would have never survived as a species!!
Anything which makes it easier for people to not have excess body fat will always fly off of the shelves 🤷🏼‍♀️

Menora · 08/03/2024 12:54

@Gloriosaford this still doesn’t mean taking Wegovy for a month is a good idea. This drug was not designed to be used short term and it’s correct you will end up £200 poorer and constipated rather than lose a few KG in a month

GloriaHotcakes · 08/03/2024 12:59

Plenty of people are lying to get it prescribed and misunderstanding how it works.

The therapeutic dose is 2.4. Starting dose is .25. You have to build up slowly, every month in stages. Lots of people have no effects from it for the first few months.

It's not for those with ten pounds or so to lose.

I do not disagree with you, I do not disagree with you in the slightest!

But I think the overwhelming desire to lose unwanted body fat, the overwhelming demand for a quick fix means that people will overlook these very valid concerns.

AhBiscuits · 09/03/2024 14:42

I have to agree that this is really not worth doing and not the way Wegovy is supposed to be used.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 09/03/2024 14:47

Good luck OP!

If anyone has such a problem with what the OP is doing (with I'm assuming her own money) why bother posting? Find another thread.

Back21970 · 09/03/2024 15:43

Do you mind me asking much it costs OP?

I am interested to hear how it goes so ignore the negative posts on here and keep updating 😀

I don’t think you said you were only planning on taking it for a month anyway!

She literally says
only intending to do this for one month

It starts at ~£200 for 4 weeks, increasing to ~£300 for 4 weeks as you increase the dosage.

And it's entirely pointless doing it for a month. You're not even on a therapeutic dose until the 4th month. You may as well spend that money on a personal trainer or nutritionist.

Because she wants to offer her experience to others which unless they are going to do something as pointless and medically ill advised as she is is a waste of time, and it's helpful to others who are thinking they can just use it for a month for a quick fix to read that it doesn't work that way.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 09/03/2024 17:22

Everyone has own agency. No one has to follow her lead if they don't want to. How does anyone know the results/it's a waste of time before she's even done it? I'm day 3 into similar and my appetite/food noise has gone already. Maybe a placebo but who knows.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 09/03/2024 17:23

*day 4
