Filling meals about 600 calories

Hi
Looking for ideas for the most filling/satisfying meal you eat at around 600 cals.
Love veg - not so keen on pulses (but love dal) and can't eat nuts.
Thanks.

More details needed here. Love veg, great but does that mean you're vegetarian?

Generally plenty of protein and then fill plate with lots of veggies and a little fat

My favourite meal is a big old piece of juicy seasoned salmon, with a big pile of slightly salted runner beans and a small portion of grains/wholegrains

MissBuzzard · 25/02/2024 17:34

Almost anything fish with 50-75g of rice and a large portion of veg.

They did a study a few years ago and they found the most filling food was boiled potatoes. I think white fish was second.
A plate of boiled new potatoes, some steamed fish, some lovely roasted vegetables and you should have enough calories left for a sauce of some kind.

@AhBiscuits hmmm makes me want a big basa fillet now too 😂

Thanks for the replies.
I think I'm wasting' calories on dressings/mayo etc that I should save for filling me up.

On a plate of fish, potatoes and veg what would you use to add flavour?

I find a lot of the Pinch of Nom recipes keep me filled up. They use peppers a lot which digest slowly so I think that helps. I prefer less carbs, high amounts of protein and lots of different vegetables.

The fast 800 cookbook has loads of great recipes - mainly around 400 calories but more if you add carbs

I love garlic based ones, also lemon and any peri peri seasoning. Also agree with peppers I must eat about 10 a week just put them in everything 😂

you can buy really good seasonings even the Nando’s ones depends what flavours you like I would even stretch to a little bit of pesto on salmon to season it if I was feeling very special 😂.

lemon and herb can be nice and basic on fish with salt/pepper to season

I do mine in the air fryer

I make a roasted butternut and spinach Dahl and have that with some brown rice, according to my fitness pal the Dahl is 160 cal.

Sirine1708 · 25/02/2024 20:37

Huge bowl of tuna salad with pickled red onions and fat free youghurt as a dressing.

Omelette or fried eggs with turkey rashers or low fat ham + tomato + green olives

Bolognese sauce on iceberg salad or broccoli

Any fried protein + salad with balsamic dressing

Homemade curry with chicken breast + veggies

needtoshrink · 25/02/2024 20:54

I wouldn't discount 5% beef- only about 130 cals per 100g. As long as you are careful with carbs you can make a very satisfying meal with that- cook with onions and tomato etc into a bolognaise, or smash burgers with a few air fryer chips and a big salad. It's not the sauce it's the large amounts of pasta we have with it! Swap most for veggies and you can have a great feed

daffodilfan · 25/02/2024 22:37

Thanks for all if these ideas.

Protein bagel, smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Really satisfying.

I know it's breakfast but I could eat it for 3 meals a day and it's about 450kcal.

Also (stolen from hello fresh) roasted veg - I do aubergines, peppers, onions, potatoes - with pan fried Halloumi and pesto dressing - mix pesto with water to thin it out.
