Weight changes over adulthood

I've been pondering this today thinking about my body and weight at 18 compared to now at 47. I'm 5ft 3in and was then too.

I always weighed clothed back then and on clinical scales and was around 8st 3lb at my lightest and 9st at my heaviest. The contraceptive pill had a big impact on my weight then and I went down to the 8st 3lb after coming off it.

I'm now 8st 11lb and hoping to lose some more and tone up. I've had 3dc and am wobbly.

My highest weight not pregnant was 10st 10lb after lockdown. My highest weight 8.5 months pregnant was 11st 2lb. I gained a stone in each pregnancy. Lowest weight not pregnant since 18 has been 8 st 3lb last summer. I felt amazing at that weight! Although still wobbly.

Does your weight fluctuate over time or are you steady like my mum who is the same as when I was born?

I was very skinny at 18 because I was a raver and lived on Marlborough lights and Es but I don’t know what I actually weighed.
I had a child at 20 and put on several stones
Then, i remember being 9 stone 7 in about 2005/2006 and dieting because I wanted to be 9 stone
when i met my dh in 2009 i was 10.7
when i got married in2011 i was 11.7
i had two more kids and each time i gained 4 stone
in Jan 2018 I was 13.6 and I bought a treadmill and started running and I lost loads of weight doing keto and running.
put a bit back on, then after lockdown I did a really strict paleo diet, felt amazing, was absolutely ripped and was 10.3
had covid in nov 2020 and was 9.13 which was super skinny for me and I look dreadful in photos
in June 2021 I ran 10km wearing my wedding dress for my 10th anniversary so I must have been around the same as I was when I got married (but I was a lot fitter and more toned)
weight has currently gone up, I was 11.9 in September when I rejoined slimming world, currently 11.0.5.

its quite depressing really when I see it all written down like that 🤦‍♀️

@thenewaveragebear1983 Flowers you sound like you're very physically fit with all that running. I can't run but wish I could. How tall are you?

I'm 5'3"
At school I was just under 8 stone
Went to Uni, discovered alcohol and was just under 9 stone
Started working in a well paid job which involved crazy hours but allowed me enough time to party hard and the combination of being able to afford to eat, drink and commuting by public transport rather than foot or bike meant I went up to about 10 stone
I then gradually crept up to more like 10st8 by my late 20s
Had two DC in early 30s and was 15st when I gave birth to DC2! By his third birthday, I was 10st.
Stayed at that weight for a couple of years before gradually creeping back up to 10st 8 and just accepting that that was probably the weight I was meant to be.
Started HRT and have put a stone on in the last year. Otherwise, HRT is amazing

@LegoTherapy I’m 5’7. I’m at the absolute top end of my bmi range for normal and I dip into overweight if I go above about 11.5 ish.
the running keeps you fit but I don’t think it keeps your weight down because it makes you ravenous and after a while you get fitter so it’s not so much effort. I’d love to get down to around 10.7 but to be honest I’m a lifelong dieter and I think I always will be. I lose weight incredibly slowly as I have a sluggish thyroid and am on HRT, plus I have a very slow resting heart rate which all contribute to a pretty slow metabolism.

I’m 5’5

I was around a size 12 until I hit about 18/19 then I steadily ballooned. I was already on the pill but it was the depo injection that saw me gain 3 stone in a year!

I had a baby at 21 and then at 23, after both of them I was 17 1/2 stone. I was a bridesmaid the following year so I crash dieted 5st off.

I kept that off for a couple of years then by the time I was 30 I hurt my back and piled 3st back on. I then I managed to lose a lot but this didn’t last. I had major surgery 2 years ago and by this point I was back up to 16st

I started last year (April 23) losing weight slowly and this has been the best way I have ever done it. I’ve lost 3.5st and still a stone to go. I never want to regain this weight!

Hmmm, I was tiny as a youngster 5'2 and probably around 7 stone untll my later teens when I went on the pill

First weight gain was getting my first flat and living on crap. Seriously I didnt have the money to eat healthy and I started a life long addiction to bread, it was cheap and versitle

Most of my 20's/30 kept the weight to around 8 stone, then MH problems, drinking to excess, I ballooned. Soon as I was well enough I took myself to WW, got back to 8 stone and kept it off , fluctuated between a size 10 and 12 ( waist - I never jumped on scales ) but probably more a 12 during my 40's

50's , menopause and another MH crisis , saw me get to a size 16 and when I finally got well enough to care about it, I was 11.5 stone and officially obese

Im now back down to 9 stone and still losing. Being off meds has really helped, but I do have to watch what I eat. I dont weigh and measure,I dont count calories. I dont say no to anything, but Im more mindful about what Im consuming over a day and try to make sure my meals are planned to include a lot of veg and I choose a protein snack over a sugery carby one.

And my fitness tracker keeps me on track

DH on the other hand has stayed the same weight in the 34 years we have been together
