Loose skin after weight loss

Skin is a little loose after losing a bit of weight. It's not all hanging down but it is sort of squishy. I have decent muscle mass. It's more like a bit of stuffing has been removed so the skin is a little loose.

Does this improve over time once you are in your 50s?

I needed surgery to get rid of mine.

I lost 8 stone though so it was significant.

I'm wondering more about just 'soft' skin. It's just overall lack of tautness due to weight loss. But weight loss is recent so I wonder if it improves at all if it is not significant looseness.

It does improve a bit with time.

Mine is improving with swimming four times a week, but it is sooooo slow. The skin looks as if it needs ironing! Three children and the wrong side of 60! Around five stone loss with spindly legs now and thin arms! Ok with clothes on luckily. I was size 22 now 14 and determined to lose half a stone more.

Amazing. Well done!

I guess I was thinking that as skin is constantly regenerating, maybe over time the new skin would be slightly better than the loose skin. Not completely taut but as my skin isn't very bad I wondered if if might improve just 10%

You know loose skin may tighten somewhat over time, especially with muscle gain and proper nutrition. Focus on strength training, hydration, and a balanced diet. Avoid high-carb foods for weight loss. If you want read more about: https://betterme.world/articles/high-carb-foods-to-avoid-for-weight-loss/ sometimes it good to know more info to feel confident

In 2020 I lost 8 stone in just over 9 months. I had really bad loose skin on my stomach. I was 48. I was mortified. However after a two years most of it had gone. It wasn’t through exercise but I think it just eventually pinged back after the sudden weight loss so hang in there and it will hopefully resolve itself. I’ve put a before and after picture

Oh wow @Dita73 that is amazing!

Dita73 · 21/03/2024 21:16

@LolaJ87 I know! I’d love to be able to say it was achieved through working out,etc but it wasn’t. I’m the laziest person in the world! I was shocked because I really thought I was stuck with it but I think once my body had time to adjust to the weight loss is just seemed to sort itself out.
