3 months .. how much weight loss?

Please Inspire me with your stories of weight loss over relatively short periods- I have 3 months to lose as much weight as possible . I have gained a lot of weight in last 18mths due to an injury, hospital, medication and being immobile however I am now out the other end of that and would like to increase my fitness and lose some weight. I can’t weigh myself as I know that will not be an incentive as I will be so shamed and horrified about what I weigh ( maybe 15 +stone) so id like just to crack on and feel good about what is going in, increasing steps or movement . In 3 months I have a holiday booked and I would like some hope of fitting into some of my pre weight gain clothes, I’m 40 so find the weight goes on super easy these days but also have wayyyy too many carbs and sugar. So any inspiration helpful, what’s best approach? Calorie counting? Intermittent fasting? Fast 800? The winging it and “ trying to be be good” approach is not going to cut it, I need drastic!! I know 3 months isn’t a massive amount of time but I need a kick start on a longer term journey!

I am on week 7 and 16lbs down, using MyFitnessPal, set to a target of 1 lb loss a week, to track everything I eat and drink and sticking to 1670 calories maximum a day.

Starting weight was 16st 1lb, height 5ft 8in, BMI 34.2, age 40
Current weight 14st 13lb, BMI 31.9

Am doing aqua aerobics 1 or 2 times a week dependent on what I can get booked onto and trying to do as much walking as possible but I WFH so day to day I spend way too much time sitting down.

I am 5ft and was a size 14/16 in May, I'm now a size 8. I have not weighed myself once as didn't want to be overwhelmed by what I needed to do. So monitored my size by wearing a specific brand of jeans.
My biggest loss I'd say was months 2 and 3. I was down two dress sizes by end of July.
I did it by using a combination of my fitness pal and IF (anything from 16:8 to 20:4 but average 18:6). I built the IF up slowly over 3 weeks and now it's normal. I also allow some flexibility so I can go out for breakfast or have more calories as a treat as long as over the week I've kept to the calories and fasting.
It's now just become a way of life as I found my gastric symptoms were much improved I don't want to go back. I've realised that actually what I needed was not a diet but a way of life/new routines. Its about finding out what's best for you and your lifestyle.
I've done this without exercise as I am disabled and can't exercise so adding some exercise would probably increase the speed of weight loss.

I have been trying to lose weight since 16 October - so nearly four months. I have lost 1st 10lbs, from 12st 12 to 11st 2.

It has been slow but steady. I started as a size 16 and am now a size 14. I was very happy to get out of the obese category.

I have another stone and a half to lose, but I see a difference and I feel much better and more confident.

I use Slimfast bars sometimes for lunch because I was going out at work and spending a fortune on high calorie lunches, I also use portion control and eat a lot more Fruit and veg. Sugar snap pears instead of crisps and chocolate!

It's been over a longer period for me but I started last March (when baby was 3 months old) and I was 88kg. I'm now 74kg so a loss of 14kg in 10 months, which is just over 2 stone. My knees are very grateful not to be carrying such a heavy load anymore! Still at it though and hoping to lose more over the rest of the year. Good luck xx

If you do Fast800 and stick religiously to it with low carb you could lose around 15kg.

Thanks everyone , good suggestions and well down to you all on great progress ! Day 2 of limited carbs, more protein and no more than 1600 cals. My fitness pal said 1700 cals for 1 lbs a week loss- going to start IF also tomo. I realise so much of my calories is mindless snacking , leftover children’s snacks, a bit here a bit there.. also have cut out the evening cup of tea as that usually comes with a biscuit( or 5!) or the need to munch! Not going to weigh myself but will use a pair of jeans as a guage. The older I get the belly fat is just out of control, need to start some core exercises - after being immobile for so long the muscle have wasted away.

@Dreamingofthishouse MFP wont be accurate if you don't weigh yourself.

I lost at least 1.5 stone in the first 3 months then it got a lot slower. I was 15st 6lbs in April 2023 and I am now 12st with 1st still to lose. It will likely take me now until April/May 2024 at the very least as I am not prepared to eat too little, so I have chosen to try to lose 0.5kg a week in a smaller deficit as it’s more manageable
