5-7kg in 6 weeks

Worththeweight · 11/02/2024 21:27

I'm in need of a reset, a few big milestones before Christmas and too much celebration has left me feeling rubbish.
I'm 69.1kg, I feel much more comfortable around 62-64kg.
I've set myself a challenge.
Drop 5kg (ideally 7kg) in 6 weeks.
Train 6 x per week
1400-1600 calories
125g protein
As little booze as possible (on day 7 with no booze)
First week was hard, I was so cranky!
But I'm down 1.5kg (mostly water) and through the worst of the booze cravings.
Anyone want to keep me company?

I just Google the calories then add it all up on the calculator on my phone. I just do guestimates for most things and round up to the nearest 25. I have one of two breakfasts - either berry overnight oats with 1/3 cup - 40g oats, some vegan protein powder, almond milk, cinnamon and berries for 300 calories or chocolate oats with the same amount of oats, 1/3 mashed banana for sweetness, cacao powder, almond milk and protein powder for 350. I used to make it with no protein and more oats, but I found that I was hungry again 2 hours later.
Lunch is usually a sandwich and veggie sticks, so I know roughly how many calories depending on the sandwich- 2 dry fried eggs adds 160 calories, a tin of tuna and a little light salad cream is 150, ham or turkey slices is usually 60-70 calories etc and then just add your bread.
For snacks an apple or bbanana is 100 calories and other snacks is chocolate or Costa cappuccinos that have calories labelled.
I do hello fresh for dinner that shows calories, then another snack with calories labelled or a bowl of measured porridge.

My calculator just saves the numbers, so every time I open it, I just add the next meal or snack.

I used to use my fitness pal but started getting fed up of searching for each individual food! Now it's not exact, but it seems to be working for me

hothotheatbag · 26/02/2024 02:52

I've gone from 73 to 74 in this week, I feel confused I've cut carbs kept below 1300 daily.all logged.

Any recommendations for online exercise? I'm stuck at home this week. Maybe a Pilates? Or something a bit more blasty.

I suspect I've not moved enough, and I've had wine 3 nights and may reduce to 1100-1200

So this coming week.

Drink more water, swap out breakfast for a protein shake, walk daily non negotiable in the soggy weather and stop weighing daily it's not helpful, oh and no mid week pub trips.

When my gym is done I'll have my weights which I can wait for but meanwhile I need to shift 10kg 🥴

gemini1990 · 26/02/2024 15:10

I'm down from 67kg to 65.5 in three weeks so happy with that, slow weight loss but it's fine. Still been having occasional treats etc and not moving as much as I should! I'm starving too as breastfeeding!

Losing a bit has spurred me on now to get down to my goal of 62kg which was pre baby weight, I'd really like to lose another 5kg on top of that but will reassess once I'm at the 62kg mark!

gemini1990 · 26/02/2024 15:10

Well done everyone!

Pitstop1986 · 26/02/2024 18:04

@gemini1990 well done on losing 1.5kg! I'm breastfeeding too and it can make losing weight so difficult, especially if I'm tired after being up through the night- all I want is sugar afterwards! At least our calorie allowance is higher than someone not breastfeeding. I'm aiming for 1800 calories per day at the moment which gives 3 meals and enough calories left over for an afternoon and evening snack, so I can still have treats in my allowance :)

@hothotheatbag hopefully the gain is just water weight and it'll fall off without much effort. It sounds like you've been trying hard. For YouTube videos, I usually just put in the search bar what I want, for example gentle cardio workout or bodyweight full body workout and then choose a video based on how long they are and how much time that I have. I used to like Joe wicks and body fit by Amy, but I also have a Cindy Crawford workout dvd that is long, but works every muscle (not that I've done it for years!) When I was much more fit, gillian Michael's 30 day shred used to really challenge me. For something more gentle or for something to do on a rest day, recent Jane fonda workouts get you moving without killing you! Good luck!

How's everyone else getting on?

Worththeweight · 26/02/2024 21:16

Well done everyone! Such good results.
I'm 1.8kg down, now sitting at 67.3kg. Seems slow but I have to remember I'm only 3 weeks in, 3 weeks to go. I'm definitely not as cranky or hungry, hit a PB in the gym - we had a 60sec sprint on the Ski Erg and I was the top female, which was a little win for 43 year old me!
Any good snack ideas?

Pitstop1986 · 26/02/2024 22:35

Well done @Worththeweight ! So the slight gain that you had earlier has been lost, with extra on top! 1.8kg in 3 weeks is an amazing result, definitely well on the way to the 5-7kg that you wanted to lose, plus a pb at the gym! Good going!

I weigh every day, although only record my Thursday results, so far I've maintained exactly the same weight for the last few days, so I'm (im)patiently waiting for a drop on the scales!

chatenoire · 28/02/2024 20:47

I might have lost 500g but my body is WAY more toned than before, so I'm a happy bunny over here

BussiBop23 · 29/02/2024 10:00

Only 0.4kg down this week. My progress is definitely slowing. To be fair, I suppose I have had the odd treat here and there this week!

5.2kg down in total since the new year - slow and steady, but I'm still enjoying the process, which is amazing! I feel so much better mentally than I did before I started this, so that's an absolute win for me!!

Worththeweight · 29/02/2024 21:39

I think it's normal for things to slow down, I'm down to 67kg. I'm mega cranky, and went to bed hungry which wasn't run. But I'm looking more muscular which is good.

I'm doing a fitness test on Sunday, which I think I'll need some gas in the tank for!
For time
1KM run
50 burpee broad jumps
100 stationary lunges
1KM row
30 hand release push ups
100 wall balls (4KG)
Pray for me !

@Pitstop1986 Cindy Crawford takes me back to be 15 and dancing round my front room!! I must have been all of 8 stone and trying to tone up.

Awful with his sight that we grew up in such an era of diet culture and had Cody to live up too!

I might give Cody a go.

Pitstop1986 · 01/03/2024 08:06

I'm up 0.3kg this week, although recent blood tests have shown that my thyroid has become slightly underactive- a poor excuse, but it's what I'm going with!

Still hoping that this is a blip and I carry on losing 0.5kg per week. Overall, I'm down 1kg in 3 weeks so trying not to be too disheartened. If I lose another 1kg in the next 2 weeks I'll be more than happy.

Circuit class this morning. Keep going everyone! We've got this!

DinnerNightmare · 01/03/2024 09:19

@Worththeweight good luck with your fitness test.

I'm down to 68.6kg, that's 2.3kg down in 3 weeks. I'm sticking to working out from home 3 days a week and around 1400 calories a day. I've surprised myself for sticking with this, but I've been feeling great. Let's see what the weekend brings 😬

Pitstop1986 · 01/03/2024 13:59

It's great to see that so many of you have had really good losses and are making great progress!

BussiBop23 · 02/03/2024 19:26

Had a couple of drinks and some slices of pizza last night, so I've kept today super strict and on plan! Always struggle in the evening as I go hunting for a sweet treat, especially hard on a Saturday.

Last week wasn't huge progress for me, so I'm going to try really hard this week. Circuit training today, strength training twice in the week, and an extra bit of cardio (normally a run) if I can face it.

Hope everyone else is doing OK!

Pitstop1986 · 03/03/2024 14:11

@BussiBop23 I know what you mean about evening sweet treats. I get small bars of chocolate and mini magnums. You get a bit of indulgence without going overboard

Wowwellokthen · 04/03/2024 21:41

Down 5kg now in 9 weeks. Looking to lose 3kg more then try to plateau.
Well done everyone!

chatenoire · 05/03/2024 07:50

It's so disappointing no matter what I do I can't shift the weight, BUT I do feel and look ok, so I think I just have to understand that my body struggles with losing body weight ;(

Pitstop1986 · 05/03/2024 12:44

@chatenoire I put on 0.3kg last week and another 0.1kg so far this week maintaining a calorie deficit and exercising. I had my thyroid meds increased a week ago, but they've obviously not kicked in yet!

I'm having a couple of maintenance days- eating my tdee (but ensuring that i don't have a f* it attitude and start eating everything!) as I'm fed up! I'll get back to it towards the end of the week

According to the fitness groups I'm part of, they can actually see the progress. I always find it mind bogging that my scales simply won't shift (and that I'm considered overweight but that's a different convo).

Worththeweight · 06/03/2024 20:28

My stuck at 67.4KG and feeling really fed up! I've been so strict, training 6 times a week. No movement

BussiBop23 · 07/03/2024 09:51

@Worththeweight, that's got to be so frustrating!

Can I ask what you're aiming for? I've reached 68.2kg. My goal when I started was just to get down to a healthy BMI (even though I know BMI isn't always accurate). I just wanted to get out of the overweight category, which I've done now.

Now I feel like I'm not sure what to aim for? I've never really weighed myself before so it's not like I know what weight I feel/look best at.

Pitstop1986 · 07/03/2024 10:57

@BussiBop23 I'd set yourself a fitness goal or if you want to carry on losing weight, then have an outfit that you want to feel comfortable in.

Even eating goals that don't focus on weight loss if you're happy with your weight at the moment- aiming to eat x portions of veg per day, less than x units of alcohol per week, one vegetarian/vegan day per week or no more than one bar of chocolate/ peice of cake.

Fitness goals could be 6000+ steps per day, completing so many press ups or squats, couch to 5k, etc etc

If weight isn't your focus, then turn the focus to your health, because that's actually a better way to look at this whole process anyway!

Pitstop1986 · 07/03/2024 11:03

@Worththeweight it was my official weigh in day today and I'm up 0.1kg for the week.

So week 1 -0.8kg
Week 2 -0.5kg
Week 3 +0.3kg
Week 4 +0.1kg

So in 4 weeks I've lost 0.9kg. So frustrating! I'm getting my thyroid bloods retested tomorrow after increasing my dose of levothyroxine. It may need a further tweak. I'm wondering if calorie restriction is actually causing my thyroid to become more underactive? My resting heart rate is continuing to drop despite the increase in my dose

DinnerNightmare · 08/03/2024 11:25

@Worththeweight that's so frustrating, but keep hanging in there. Hopefully it's just a momentary pause to your weight loss.

I weighed in at 68kg this morning, which is another 0.6kg down. I'm beginning to see the changes. Just don't know why I always lose weight in my face first. I already have a slim face... it's the rest of me that needs it 😅
