Anyone want to join me? I just want to stop snacking!

I think that mindlessly eating little bits and pieces, (a bite of leftovers, half a biscuit, 5 crisps) is ruining my enjoyment of having a nice meal I am actually hungry for, and also has made me put on 10 pounds that make me feel sluggish and ugly. My goal is to stop the snacking that began when my kids were little and I was hanging around the kitchen with them too much!

This sounds exactly like me. I'll open crisps for the kids and eat a few first. Son doesn't finish his pancake I'll finish it. I'm constantly snacking throughout the day and it gets so much worse come evening time. I've pigged out on so much rubbish throughout the day that I don't eat a lot at dinner but then will eat biscuits when kids are in bed! I also have about 10lbs to lose

I'm definitely up for joining op and we can support each other. Maybe writing a record of our snacking will help keep us accountable and make us realise just how much we're eating

Absolutely! Working from home is the killer for me! Some days I nibble my way through 300 + calories!
I’m doing slimming world which has made my snacking worse in a way because although I’m snacking on ‘free foods’ it’s still things I don’t really need. This week I’ve been really trying to eat more protein with my meals and then not snack and I’m definitely eating less.

Hi everyone- sorry I have been out! For me, it is also that I am always eating scraps so I never get really hungry. When I am cooking I taste bites of things, eat half a carrot, finish someone's toast, and then feel blah...

I want to become more aware of the things I put in my mouth. My worst times for this are while I am cooking and every time I come into the house or into the kitchen- it is just a habit to stick something in my mouth, whether I actually want it or not. Sometimes I don't even notice I am doing it.

What are the moments you put random things in your mouths? Time of day? Mood? Do you enjoy your snacks or is it just a habit?

tiredmumofboys that sounds exactly like me! I never want dinner, but then I eat scraps all evening. When my kids were young I knew this was a bad example, now they are grown, I am just a terrible example to myself

I try to tell myself I am not the bin for other people’s leftovers. My weakness is after dinner munching on crisps etc about 9-10pm. Apparently herbal tea at this time helps so might try that.

My weakness time is 2-3-4 in the afternoon. I do quite a boring job and I work from home so if, like this week, I was slowly dying by spreadsheet, I find myself shuffling about in the kitchen looking for entertainment. Some things I do like is a really cold can of zero sprite, or an options hot chocolate sachet. Sweet but not crazy calories. I daren’t even start on biscuits because if I’m in that frame of mind it won’t end well.

A can of Diet Coke is a life saver in these situations, zero Weight Watchers points, but fills me up a bit

It seems like boredom and shuffling around the kitchen are weak moments for all of us. Today I am going to try to put nothing in my mouth without being aware that I am doing it. Maybe I will do something silly like say out loud 'I am going to eat half a slice of cold stale toast' and see if that discourages me! I like the idea of a few different healthy-ish things to drink- going to try that more consistently. I have a soda stream, so am going to flavour some fizzy water and try to drink more of that.
