Wegovy not working? Plateau?

Has anyone else found their weight loss has plateaued?

I’m on my third month of Wegovy (0.1mg now) and I’ve lost half a stone since the start but nothing in the last 2-3 weeks.

I’ve emailed Lloyds pharmacy to ask but haven’t had any response to say why this might be.

I’ve had zero nauseous side effects, just a lack of desire to eat and feeling full quicker. I’m not drinking as I’ve lost all urge for booze so I’m surprised I’ve not lost more. I’ve got a 1.7mg pen which I’m starting next week but I’m loathe to spend £300 on the 2.4mg pen if it’s not working.

Has anyone else found they’ve plateaued and is there something I can do? I’m stressing that maybe Wegovy just won’t be as effective for me. I have another 4 stone to lose.

Lots of people report plateaus on Wegovy. But what you have is more of a blip than a plateau. At least, so far.

Most suggest re-looking at your diet and/or increasing medication strength. Many will break through their plateau.

You have another pen. So stick with it and if nothing has shifted by the end of the third week, you could reassess.

@tarziew I had a plateau around the same point. I addressed it by being more intentional about what i did/didnt eat, rather than just relying on the wegovy to adjust me appetite. Back on track now.

I didn’t know this was a common occurrence so I feel better thank you.

Interesting! Glad I’m not unusual and there is hope ahead. I have cut out bread but not carbs entirely. Might try that next. The urge for booze has disappeared but I’m still nibbling on 70% dark chocolate here and there. Might have to look again at that. Many thanks!

@tarziew Try using an app lime myfitnesspal or fitbit to really closely monitor your calories for a week or so... Helped me work out what I needed to adjust. My wegovy supplier also suggested using intermittent fasting.

I like intermittent fasting actually, I eat early in the evening anyway so it’s easy enough.

I'm bad at counting calories though. I struggle logging them on apps. I will try watching carefully what I’m eating and hope that helps.

Thank you.

Wait and see what happens on the higher dosage. I'd suggest working out your tdee and sticking to your calories for weight loss. I track mine on my fitness pal and I've lost over 3.5 stone on saxenda then Wegovy.

All plateaus are fairly normal

you now weigh less than when you started so you need to adjust your intake to account for the fact you are smaller and may expend slightly less energy than you used to, then you can adapt to this new weight in terms of calorie intake

if you aren’t counting calories and just relying on wegovy to put you off food, you have few side effects - you will likely be eating too much. If you don’t watch what you eat and learn good habits you will run into problems further down the line as WL gets harder and harder the closer you get to your ideal weight

Weight loss isnt linear no matter what tools you're using

No one loses week on week on week on week

Thank you everyone for the reassurance ❤

I will start paying closer attention to my food intake now. I know a few tweaks I can start with.
