Help with weightloss - driving myself mad!

Hi all, looking for tough love here and advice. Currently I am a 50-something pescatarian but eat a mainly vegan diet. In short, I am desperate to lose weight, and know everything there is to know about dieting, but am failing to kick myself into gear. My BMI is 29, I always start the day with great intentions and end up eating way too much sugar (usually the kids lunchbox choc bars) and I really really don't want to wish away another summer of feeling crap and waiting for winter to shroud myself in jumpers and coats. I have a weekend away with glamorous girlfriends on April 29th and thought I could aim for that! So that's three months to lose ideally 2-3 stone. I thought vegan, low carb... all thoughts very welcome! Thankyou in advance, am so sick of failing and starting again.

Ok I will start by asking why are you vegan
Not a dig, just to ask as you are looking for help

vegan diets in the wrong mindset can be exactly this, filled with junk food as your diet is quite limited so you plan less. If you want or need to lose weight you have to make an effort with the food you consume and make it as best and healthy as you can. Is it a good idea to incorporate some more vegetarian/pescatarian things to give you a broader variety of choices (as you say you have been pescatarian)?

Its not about bringing meat in it’s about having a realistic view and dedication to what your aim is - right now you have a very limited diet that isn’t working well and you need to challenge that. You need to plan your meals and work out what you are going to stick to. All weight loss starts with looking at your diet and making changes

Hey @sazzle1970 - I'm your age (judging by your username?) and your size and battling with massive gains recently, I think mainly due to hormones/meno but also over eating and over drinking.

I've also got a school reunion planned for 21st April, so I would like to be at least 2 stone lighter by then.

Yesterday I started the Human Being Diet, after seeing it recommended on here. It starts off with an intense 2 days of just veggie and is a vegan diet. The rest of the Phases can be adapted to suit veganism too if required. I've successfully lost weight in the past and am finding it so much harder now, but I have high hopes for this if I can just stick with it!

Building on @Menora's post about veganism - if you want to low carb, it is very, very difficult if you're a vegan. (So my suggestion to join Bootcamp may not have been a good idea!) But if you're pescatarian it's a lot easier to low carb.

Thanks everyone, that’s given me things to think about. I’m tempted by hbd @DuckyLuck - have tried it before but perhaps a new attempt is in order. It is very effective! Xx
