Wegovy, any tips?

Hello. I have had my first delivery of Wegovy, obviously starting on the lowest dose which I have read won't do much. Just looking at some advice on the best time to take and the best location to inject?

My plan is to sort of combine it with the fast 800 and start off with 3 30 minute walks a day before gradually increasing to become more active. I have a huge amount of weight to lose as I'm currently around 23 stone and absolutely miserable . I'm hoping this will be the beginning of a new life for me so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi there - took my first dose last night before bed so similar stage to you 👋

apparently keeping hydrated is good to avoid side effects so going to focus on my 2litres a day.

have signed up to the Weight Watchers GLP-1 app also as recommended on here.

i’ve around 3 st to lose and it just won’t shift so hoping for some results!

good luck! X

Hi, starting my first dose of Wegovy on Sunday so thought I’d join in. My biggest problem with dieting is committing long-term. The only time I’ve ever been slim in my life is when I was a combination of miserable from some stressful personal circumstances and / or being unwell for an extended period, so I just didn’t eat.
I started slimming world last year for a second time after losing two stone on it previously and I lost half a stone before giving up when I started a stressful new job. I’ve lost weight multiple times throughout my life through exercise, PT, fasting, starving myself - you name it I tried it - all with varying degrees of success but it all comes back eventually with a vengeance. I just can’t be bothered to spend my whole life obsessing about what I should or shouldn’t eat and I’ve chosen Wegovy because I just want a break from feeling guilty that I’m not trying hard enough, some results to motivate me again, and some space to work on some better eating habits without feeling like a total failure every time I look the wrong way at a donut. So I’d love to follow for any tips!

Congratulations on starting! Just go with it !
I started on December 2022 have lost 4 stones and am now in a normal BMI.
You really won't regret it ! Good luck to all of you best decision I've ever made !! Xx

Also the reason I found this thread is because I’m keen to see if fasting is a good idea on Wegovy as it’s a diet I liked to follow and it seems like it would make it a lot easier to manage, but I’m worried about it increasing side effects. Thanks!

ElDee33 · 19/01/2024 21:34

That’s fantastic, and well done! Hope to check back in next year with similar results! 🙌🏼

More good luck wishes here. I started year ago this week and I’m now 21kg down and still trying to lose more. I do 16:8 fasting with it at it helps me with control.

So pleased to find this thread! I'm on 1.0 at the moment and combining with 16:8. Am finding that after a few days post-injection my hunger really ramps up which is less than ideal. Does anyone else have that, and is it a case of being patient until I hit the highest dose?

ElDee33 · 21/01/2024 19:24

Just did my first injection and it didn’t hurt at all. Not even slightly, not even a mark on me after so I’m currently wondering if it even went in..! Am I likely to feel any side effects - good or bad - right away? Thanks for your advice!

I took mine for the first time last Sunday was so hungry by Thursday . Is it ok to take it a couple of days early if this happens next week does anyone know please

I am on my third week of Wegovy 0.25. (My third weigh in is tonight)

So far I have lost 11lbs and feel great about how it is all going.

What I have done so far :
Drink at least 2 liters of water daily
Walk at least 10,000 steps a day
3 gym sessions a week
Calorie deficit
Food diary via Nutricheck and accounting for liquid calories and seasoning

My food intake varies from 1000-1200 calories a day but my deficit target is 1600.

I am also attending slimming world as a way of support in person.

My top tips are to ensure you drink that water, if you feel sick eat plain things like rice or dry crackers.

Generally the sickness isn't too bad.

My starting weight was 19 stone 6lbs
I am currently 18 stone 10 lbs

Hi, I just wanted to share an update of my first week for anyone considering Wegovy, as I found reading so many other experiences on Mumsnet a major deciding factor for me.
On the 0.25g first dose I had about 3/4 days of feeling the side effects which for me were mild; I had a head ache and dehydration for a couple of days, and when I ate anything at all I had some mild gassy irritation in my oesophagus. I’m a week in and my appetite is still suppressed but creeping back - I haven’t eaten a proper evening meal all week but I’m hungry in the day and eating a similar amount as usual - albeit with less snacks - but it satisfies me for the rest of the day. I’m also a big drinker which was something I hoped would be quelled by Wegovy, and that urge actually has been largely suppressed but not completely. I felt dreadful after a few work drinks this Thursday (but still less drinks than usual!) after my first dose on Sunday, but the Wegovy effects are wearing off now and my appetite is returning. I have decided my first few weeks I’m not going to try too hard to change my entire life as that seems to be my downfall - I can’t keep it up! I am hoping that being on Wegovy and slowly changing habits will make them stick in a way that crash diets haven’t ever done for me. I have tried so many diets and kept all the basic adaptations (as a vegetarian fat free cottage cheese, 1cal spray oil and massive quantities of vegetables are absolute staples for me!!) So for now I’m still eating what I want and seeing how it feels. The results so far are that I seem to just eat a lot less of what I like to eat - for example if I make pasta dish I’ll just have a normal portion and not pick at it instead of eating it just because I’ve cooked it and it’s there. I snack less, and I don’t really fancy the fatty stuff like butter and cheese like I used to. I have trawled round the supermarket at dinner time and not known what to buy because I’m not hungry. Also I seem to have lost up to 4lbs but it comes and goes each day as daily weighing is unreliable, so I’ll let you know at the end of the month!

I actually forgot I had started this post and 12 days on I have lost 17.5lb. Bearing in mind as I am massive my weight loss in the beginning will be much higher than if I was smaller. This week I'm planning to up my exercise as I feel much more energetic and try and minimise carbs and sugar. Wishing you all lovely losses and success x

Thats a phenomenal loss and I imagine really reflects the effort you put in along with the medication. Congratulations!! I’d love to hear how you keep going with it but I think I’ll give a few fast days a try and see how they work out for me. Second dose tonight and I’m actually looking forward to it

Beverlypenn · 28/01/2024 10:43

Have you told your swimming world consultant you’re on wegovy. I’m asking because I just took my first dose last night. I’m also at slimming world. I’m worried if I tell my consultant she’ll say I can’t do both. What has your experience been. I’m really hoping doing the two together and keeping in a calorie deficit whilst doing so, will shift the three stone I need to lose.

Beverlypenn · 28/01/2024 10:45

Sorry that was meant for anyone that’s doing slimming world too.
