Hello, notsofarnow. it's just an idea as I'm not an expert. Constipation is a real complex and it often happens as a result of a change of some kind. When i was a teenager i often travelled with my parents and whenever we went, no matter what I was eating, I would have constipation. people normally suggest plenty of water, prunes which you eat anyway and excersise. Even moving about, dancing can make a big difference. Constipation can be stress related and when I was trying some diets it seems to have it's effect on me. Eating a lot of fruitveg and also nuts can overload your tummy and make it difficult to go. I feel for you, i'm often constipated. In my case I suspect my musceles aren't good and sometimes I overeat which makes the whole system start struggling. Good luck, please let me know how you're getting on.

You're very welcome, notsofarnow. I hope you'll get more replies but the most importantly, you'll get better.

notsofarnow - Are you using both of your healthy Bs every day.? You need your fibre.

chopchopbusybusy · 17/03/2008 22:54

Agree with sparkler - make sure you have your healthy Bs - use wholemeal bread or all bran or scan/oat bran.

Plenty of water.

Any change in your diet can result in temporary constipation. Also, your diet will now have less fat in it which makes constipation more likely in the short term.

notsofarnow · 18/03/2008 19:48

Yes I think most days i get my two healthy b's first one i use for weetabix or porridge then the other i use for meat if i on a green day and pots, rice etc if i'm on an original day (which is not very often)

Think I will have to get book out and see wht b choices i can fit in. Bread is the one thing I tend to cut out completely when I on slim world and its the first thing I go back to once i go astray.

I think the fat thing is spot on actually - I dont think my body tolerates fat too well so when I am having it I go a few times a day so a huge difference reall I guess.

Do you still have constipation? I'm not doing slimmin world but I borrowed the recipy book and the meals I was doing were fantastic. Very tasty indeed. I don't think bread is a problem if you have a slice of whole meal. If you cut it out then it's only natural ou crave for it.

my friend and i do sw. she has had awful constipation since her ds was born 6 mths ago.
i made some scan bran cakes and gave her some, and she said they did the trick. dead easy to make - i'm a useless baker.
no caps feeding ds sorry

notsofarnow · 20/03/2008 14:19

hmm will have to try that then took senna last night gave me stomach cramps this morning but nothing till this aft have been wa a bit easier.

I tend to avoid senna and all these tablets which might help but might give side effects. Better try to eat some berries - raspberries are supposedto be good. I had some mini shredded wheat cereal which only containing whole grain wheat and it did the trick for me.

notsofarnow · 22/03/2008 09:08

hmmm i've eaten rasberries and weetabix which is wholegrain isn't it? Not sure what else to try tbh.

This is intteresting as TMI SORRY I have found quite the opposite. Gurgly tummy and very much the opposite of constipation since I started slimming world (and smelly [blush})

Lets hope your body adjusts soon. Maybe your group leader may have advice.

notsofarnow · 23/03/2008 20:52

yes maybe group leader would but because of circumstance couldn't stay on tues hopefully will try this week but its school hols so depends on dc really.
