I can't cope with the threads where people only need to lose 2 or 3 stones.

I'm 16 and a half stones.

Would you like to keep me company?
I'm vegetarian but have no other restrictions.
I currently do no exercise. I'm 55 years old.

My target date is 19th July. Start of the school holidays.
27 weeks away.

Yes, hello! I'm 14st 10lb at present- 5lb down from Monday. I want to get to around 9st 10 eventually, but perfectly happy for that to happen when it happens.

I'm starting out by just focusing on my health - upping nutrition, avoiding UPF, cutting out most refined sugar. No calorie counting for me right now! Once my body has broken the addiction to shit food and started to repair, I'll start focusing on weight loss. Although, it seems like some may happen along the way anyway, based on my scales this morning.

I agree it can be hard when it feels like we have so much more to lose. But I guess, its all relative and anyone can find their excess weight upsetting, whether it's 5 st or 5 lbs!

RedDoughnut · 06/01/2024 20:48

Yes, I suppose weight loss it relative but when you have loads to lose it means a long haul.

It seems a bit daunting. If I had 2 stones to lose I'd be wrapped up by Easter.

My diet hasn't been the best.
I'm struggling with the stuff left over from Christmas and the fact I'm not back in the school day routine.
But I went for a 40 minute walk so I have made a start on moving more.

New week, new start?

I wish the evenings were lighter so I could go for a walk after work.

We can do it, @rainbowoldtrout ! Slow and steady and all that.

You're right, of course, @RedDoughnut. I'm the same - 2st feels like a drop in the ocean to me right now. When I let it get me down, I cam get very low thinking about all of the long, dreary months ahead of me. I'm managing to get around it right now by remembering that the food I'm eating is more interesting than my previous diet and, actually, when I ate nothing bit crap, that felt dreary too- like I was just stuffing it in. Thinking about it, it gave me very little actual pleasure. Its just sad that my lizard brain is so convinced that it does.

So today I did well. Took my packed lunch to a conference abd ignored the beige buffet. Added some fresh fruit - about the only healthy thing on offer! Then I made a pork stir fry for tea. Once again, no desert. Not missing it - quite happy sitting here with my peppermint tea, which I'm genuinely enjoying like a big, healthy wanker - hopefully this is a new habit forming! Ill be one of those 'when I need something sweet I just nibble on a square of really good dark chocolate' smuggos next.

I had a good day yesterday.
Although I am struggling with making family dinners and trying to hold back on my portions.

It would be easier if I could feed everyone cottage cheese and salad every night.

Breakfast

Special K, Banana, 20g sultanas and 250ml of BOB skimmed milk.

More calories in my breakfast than I would have liked. I'll skip the sultanas next time. I thought I was okay by avoiding pecan nuts that I like to add.

Well done. A good loss!

I'm 7 lb down in 2 weeks. It'll probably slow down now, but thats cool. It takes the time it takes.

Good luck for the coming week!
