Asking GP for Wegovy

So I ran out of rybelsus due to ££

And am now asking if the GP can prescribe Wegovy - any hints or tips to get them to prescribe it for me?

I'm going for bloods next week

I don't know for sure but I had to fight for a different medical treatment recently. The key information is the prescribing guidelines which I believe doctors cannot deviate from even if they wanted to.

They might not be able to. You need to look up prescribing guidelines in your area.

I don't know I managed to get Victoza (diabetic brand of Saxenda) when out of hospital as at the time some private pharmacies were rejecting my order advising as diabetic I should turn to the nhs.

I did do and ended up on a capped dose (I suspect prescribing guidelines meant this) of the above which was just maintaining the loss really.

However the injections stopped when a national shortage occurred and I was simply given an oral diabetic medication tablet to take (which makes one wee sugar out) and provided with a accu-chek device. It's been very frustrating they go on about a good hbc1 reading result but I was and would have been on the injections at that point.

I'm not expecting my surgery to give me back the injections, especially not with the 2 year limit of being on the injections if I recall for the UK which I reach in November.

It's not easy to get through NHS. They'll refer you to a weight management service and you'll have to do a few months of jumping through hoops and trying to follow their diet plan before they'll consider it.

Maybe a silly question but is rybelsus not available on prescription then?
