Hi all - new year, new thread 😁 Will try to link to this from the previous one but not sure if I can do it from the app.

In keeping with good beginnings I am off to have berries, nuts and yoghurt. Could murder a load of toast though!

Ah yes you're right about the two meals and the options.
Don't really feel anything with the low blood sugar. I'm knackered and hungry but I didn't get much sleep and have only had the cookies today so I think that's probably very normal! I'm looking forward to seeing the data when I start eating normally.
I really hope this can give me the shove I needed to get back to intermittent fasting which worked really well for me before.

PinkyBlueMe · 03/01/2024 12:59

My kit is arriving today after I signed up in November. I definitely have blood sugar issues. I have signed up for 4 months.
To inspire me, please can you tell me what benefits you have seen if you've been doing this a while?

My blood sugar also dipped quite low a few times. Mainly in the night. Not sure if this is something to worry about or not?

That can happen if you're sleeping on your side squashing the arm with the sensor on - restricts the fluids it's sampling I think.

Peae · 03/01/2024 18:08

I don’t have an updated score! When did people who’ve had an update do their original tests? I did mine the first week in November (I think).

I did mine early December (I think) and got my results through last Friday. Then yesterday (or this morning?) I received the new results. So, for at least a few days I had a good microbiome :)

TerribleWoman · 03/01/2024 18:11

I got lots of low readings for first day or two whilst it calibrates. It says this can happen somewhere in the bumf.

Peae · 03/01/2024 19:17

Day 3 and I’m finding Zoe difficult. I think I’m being too strict with my scores..? The first two days I was focused on plants. Then, after reading some other weightloss threads on here, I was curious about my calories. Found them on the app and feel that they were a bit low. However I’m getting warnings for fat (too much) and fibre (too low) already, so not sure what to add.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2024 19:27

I'm getting warnings about too much and/or low quality fat - cheese I expect.

Ok on fibre though, and plant diversity. As well as green veg, I'm eating more pulses than I used to.

The one thing that surprised me in last weeks tallies was the UPFs. So fair dos on mince pies and chocolate, but I really didn't expect to see skyr thus classified - as far as I know other plain yogurts aren't.

Peae · 03/01/2024 19:35

Yes, that’s the one. Must be coming from the extra virgin olive oil, oily fish, nuts and seeds. Guess I need to cut them back. Makes me think how much fat I was getting with meat, crisps, biscuits, chocolate bars and takeaways! No wonder my poor biome is poor.

Greenthread · 04/01/2024 10:52

I have finally got my updated gut score. Do we not get the list of every bacteria any more? My score has dropped from excellent to good. The original bacteria I had loads of (Patrick) isn’t listed at all any more.

TheClitterati · 04/01/2024 11:37

I'm on day 7 using the sensor and still waiting on test results.

I'm a bit confused as to what I'm actually meant to be doing food wise though.

I eat a mufin or toast and the blood glucose rises. I eating anything and the blood gluecose rises.

I'm not quite sure what I am meant to do now.

I find the ap confusing. There sems to be both a lack of any guidance, and a huge amount of information - but I really have to dig around for this.

Eat less refined carbs and eat more vegetables is hardly new science or new information is it?

No, but the info on individual responses is (IMO) interesting and useful. DH, who has a sugar control score of only 11 is finding a CGM and the Zoe scores a useful tool for better food choices/combinations/effect of exercise etc.

You can drill into the info on the Profile page.
Open the Microbiome score, scroll down and then you can open the good and bad lists separately.

I don't think I've got Patrick listed - maybe that one is now deemed neutral?

79andnotout · 04/01/2024 14:34

No sign of Patrick on mine anymore either. I have 31/50 'good' bacteria and 6 out of 50 'bad' although I just looked up the bad bacteria that makes up almost all of that - Jesse - Bacteroides uniformis - and it seems in all the papers I read it's found in lots of athletes and thought to be good for enhancing endurance. So I am very much taking my scores with a pinch of salt.

I haven't had antibiotics since I was a kid, live rurally, have loads of pets, do a lot of gardening, and eat a fair amount of fermented food so I was expecting my score to be decent. I don't think my microbiome is to blame for my fat arse.

Peae · 04/01/2024 18:50

I had a bit of a win today when I realised two Jaffa cakes would only take my meal score down by 6 so I went for it. First junk/sugar in four days.

Need to up the beans next week to help with my fat, fibre and protein scores. Plus, that Netflix documentary was pretty shocking and convincing regarding terrible meat and welfare standards.

BaileysAllRound · 04/01/2024 19:22

Can anyone help? I'm supposed to be logging my meals today and have done a few with the plus sign on the app. But the plus sign has now disappeared and I can't find how I'm supposed to log foods?!

Peae · 04/01/2024 19:23

Are you on the Diary "tab" at the bottom?

BaileysAllRound · 04/01/2024 20:08

I don't have any tabs at the bottom, this is what I see

Peae · 04/01/2024 22:08

I think the app is glitchy. Could you ask the chat?

follygirl · 05/01/2024 15:02

I'm doing the test day tomorrow and have already attached the sensor. Now I'm worried about the fact that the samples won't be posted until Monday. Is it better that I do it on Sunday instead? Can I change the test day?

Greenthread · 05/01/2024 17:32

I don’t think it matters. I did my tests on a Saturday.

follygirl · 05/01/2024 21:05

Thanks @Greenthread

I can’t get anything on any of the bacteria in the app. Maybe I need to reinstall the app? Nothing at all.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/01/2024 20:39

Yes, app on my iPhone. Is yours iOS or android?

Go to Diary tab and look right at the top of this page, there’s a little grey arrow pointing downwards.

press on this and a calendar of this week magically appears. You can choose today’s date and start logging.

Freakin’ hard to find that arrow!!
