has anyone tried this? It’s on offer at moment for £89

I already have the books and I did try once, got on okay lost pounds then fell off wagon due to illness etc.

we have two young kids so it needs to fit in meal wise for me.

I have about 2.5 stone to lose. Thanks

I'm doing a version of this for personal reasons, knowing I can't keep it up for 12 weeks and not being in any rush either, I'd prefer to slow down and ''practice maintaining''. I did 800 yesterday and lost .3 of a kilo so my plan today is to have a normal 1400 day today (that's maintaining for me) and then tomorrow another 800 day. Alternate day 800/1400. Stops me going crazy. I may not even manage 800 every second day. It could be every third day. Does this sound too half-hearted to be allowed on the thread! I am determined to lose the last 3 kilos.

Sorry in answer to your exact question no I've not bought the membership online, I@d be curious to know how much help it is !

Helenahandkart · 28/12/2023 14:19

I did it. I found it really useful having someone tell me what to eat, what to shop for, and how to cook it. I was a very poor inexperienced cook beforehand and found menu planning really difficult. Now I can make lots of interesting meals. I thought the meals would be dreary but most of them are really tasty - if a bit small!
I lost 3 stone in three months, not quite my target weight, but then I finished it just before Christmas a couple of years ago and subsequently put some weight back on over the Christmas period.
I have continued subscribing to it as a way of planning nice meals for myself, but don’t stick to it rigidly anymore.
I never did any of the meditation. I did the exercise but don’t anymore.

I found that there were lots of times when my weight loss slowed or stopped completely, but I stuck to the plan and weight loss started again. I had a couple of wobbles, usually involving PMT and chocolate, but got back on it again.

Overall I found it fairly easy to follow. It suited me because I am an all-or-nothing person and I respond well to rigid guidelines.
You can however adapt the meal plans a lot to suit your preferences.
My DH enjoyed the meals too. They don’t taste too diety,

SO, I did 800 on the 27th and on the 29th with a normal day on 28th and planned for today (1400) and I have lost .7 of a kilo since I weighed myself morning 27th. If anybody is feeling like they want to try this but can't face 800 everyday, start off doing it every second day! the results are the same.

Anybody else started yet?

I would try 5:2 first with only two stone odd to lose, incorporating some of the recipes and diet advice. Very Fast 800 will work but I found it too severe, I was basically malnourished and stopped after 8 weeks as my hair started falling out. Also when I stopped doing it the weight piled back on as I craved white carbs and alcohol, and bingeing is not me at all normally. Nutracheck is a much better app than anything on the Fast Diet programme, IMO, and you can do a 5:2 version on that. I lose 1-2lbs a week on it and it's really sustainable. I don't have starchy carbs on fast days but do have whole versions on other days, and I think the Mediterranean style of eating is great.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 30/12/2023 12:10

I'm going to try 4 days on 3 days off as I want to shift a couple of stones BEFORE I go wedding dress shopping, see how my will power is. Giving up beer from 1st January (gin and slimline only unless a special occasion in which case one-two glasses wine is my starting point, going to try the eating only over 6 hours of the day thing too as I find it far easier cutting breakfast than eating less dinner)

Hi my DH and I did it and it worked well. Unfortunately we got lazy and due to holidays etc.
I completely agree with @Helenahandkart the meal planning and shopping lists make it so easy.
Restarting again tomorrow 💪

Did this last year and lost a 2 stone in 3 months, but wasnt very strict after the first 4 weeks. Am giving it a go again from today!

NoIncomeTaxNoVAT · 01/01/2024 22:28

I did it earlier this year and lost 12kg in 12weeks (which i think is just over 2stone?) I stopped as i fell pregnant with DC2 but will be doing it again once baby is here and i stop breastfeeding. I found it really easy to follow - i used the website rather than the books but thats because i liked the menu planning options / shopping list generator.

OneMoreTime23 · 01/01/2024 22:32

I did 2 rounds several years back and absolutely destroyed my metabolism. It’s taken me years to get it back to something close to normal.

chalkyc2 · 02/01/2024 10:12

I find the online plan helpful - you can set it for 5:2 or other variations, veggie or not, swap around meals etc. Fast 800 isn't especially popular on here but even the 800 days probably are more like 1000 when you add the 'free' veg that is advocated. I also ignore the advice around counting calories for tea and coffee - indeed that is what got me through the initial 12 weeks - a large cup of tea with oat milk after dinner managed to help with evening snacking urges and meant I went to bed with a full(ish) tummy!

I still follow the principles and use the recipes online, and pay monthly for the app. I've lost 6.5 stone over the last 9 months and have 2 to go.

Yes I'd caution anyone about doing the Very Fast 800/Blood Sugar diet unless blood sugar really is an issue for you and/or you have a lot to lose.

5:2 can be pretty good though, and time limited eating, and the general advice about Mediterranean diet, plus the recipes in the books (which do often include whole carbs).

ChanelNo19EDT · 02/01/2024 17:36

Well, I've done 3 out of the last 6 days 800, other days 1400. Lost ..4 of a kilo and had put weight on this morning. Good grief the last 3 kilos are hard.

Good luck to rverybody on day 2!
I'm jaded already haha😄

I believe you. I feel like I would just train my body to put on weight if I ate more that 800 cals

kitz90 · 06/01/2024 07:55

I am 5 days in and have lost 6 lbs. I like the ease of the website and support group on there. Everyone is very encouraging, sharing their meals, tips etc. I’m doing the two meals a day plan. As another poster said it’s not really 800 calories, more like 1000 when you add in your veg. I feel a mental clarity. I have a cup of tea with milk each day and this doesn’t seem to be affecting the weight loss. I had headaches and weakness the first couple of days but that’s passed now.

Can I join please?
I really need to lose some weight and get some control of my diabetes. I have been thinking of downloading the app and starting on Monday. It’s really helpful reading other people’s experiences of the fast 800.
