Gastric band/sleeve

If you have had either of these, please talk to me about the results (and initial process if that's something you'd want to share). Especially if you are/were post-menopausal after you went through the procedure.

I am so disgusted with my weight gain during and post menopause. It's upsetting me so much! I have tried all the usual weight loss changes that used to see me drop weight easily...but none are working and the weight is not budging. I lose a few pounds over about 2-3 months (on a very strict calorie deficit using MFP...I am absolutely sure that I'm not 'cheating' and logging every morsel!) then it plateaus and then stops altogether.

I'm now at the stage where I'm considering the more drastic solutions and the sleeve/band is where I'm at right now.

I understand the differences between the two...and I've read the reviews on various providers sites. I just wanted to hear from 'real people' who have had success (or not!) with these procedures.

FYI I never thought I'd ever be considering surgical intervention to lose weight...yet here I am 😨

It's not a miracle cure. I've lost weight, but still obese and despite me eating v little the weight loss has virtually stopped, mainly (I fear) due to inactivity due to arthritis. I am lbs lighter, but many thousands of £ lighter. I was 60 when I had it done. Went through endless NHS assessments but no surgery offered (despite being morbidly obese, diabetic etc) so paid up.
Also has more 'social' implications. I can't eat a proper meal, or even finish a children's portion, so 'going out' for a treat is a waste.

Thank you...I really appreciate your honest response. This is what I need to hear.

I wish you well on your weight loss journey...it's so very hard post 50s isn't it? ❤️
