The initial drop is water and glycogen not fat. Give it some time at least!

Weighing daily isn't a good habit to be in, as it encourages anxiety about minor fluctuations. Have you considered weighing less often?

Weight loss really does take months. I know that’s not what anyone wants to hear. The less you need to lose the harder it is. You will go up and down constantly it is not linear. You need to look at weight loss as a bigger picture like a monthly trend. I have been losing weight since April and lost 3 stone. I’m at the last 1-1.5stone -10-12kg. I have fluctuated from 81-79kg for 3 weeks now. It is just how your body works. Are you building muscle? Are you working out? There is a million factors…

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 19/12/2023 07:31

@TarantinoIsAMisogynist I weigh myself every day. I always have and always will. It's just part of my morning routine. Just like brushing my teeth. I don't have an ED or anxiety around food. 🤷🏼‍♀️

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 19/12/2023 07:32

Your weight fluctuates day to day naturally. If you weigh daily, your measurements won't smooth out those minor fluctuations, and instead you'll be more likely to obsess about the odd 0.5kg which is really just water/hormones. Which is exactly what OP is doing.

Menora · 19/12/2023 07:32

I weigh myself every day and it isn’t always good for me if it doesn’t say what I wish it did!

That's great, but the OP is obviously obsessing over it. Hence this thread.

Yes, low carb takes time. Your body needs to adapt. Make sure you are eating enough, as undereating can cause a stall.

Alohapotato · 19/12/2023 07:58

Hi, I'm not obsessing, I just not understand why I lost so much weight in the beginning and now nothing ..

@Alohapotato you are obsessing it’s been less than a month? Bodies fluctuate, weight loss is not linear. None of us can answer this question apart from to say

it’s normal
it’s too early to be in a plateau you have to keep going
no one knows your exercise or diet can’t tell you if you are doing things right or wrong

the way weight loss works for most people is you lose water/glycogen first then your body will start to slowly burn fat. You aren’t going to burn a lot of fat after a few days on a diet.

you also have lost weight you have lost 0.2kg

Bigminnie1 · 19/12/2023 08:53

I think you also need to look at the weight loss overall and in a short period of time, you have already lost 5.6kg which is almost a stone. That's really good!

Because carbs hold water and store glycogen, when you cut them or reduce your body doesn't hold as much water so the scale drops but it is not fat. You lost weight, but you haven't lost fat.

I started low carbing mid July, the first week I lost three kilos which was mainly water. After that I lost about a kilo per week unless I was on holiday.
