Clothes for Christmas chat!

just want to moan. I have a lot of weight to loose. Over three stone.

I started two months ago at 12st 12 and am now 11st 9. I hate all my clothes. I have nothing to wear over Christmas. and nothing is flattering.

i don’t want to go out and spend lots of money on new clothes that hopefully will be too big in a few months. My size 16 clothes are too big now. I have size 14s in my wardrobe but they are a bit dated and frumpy. My lovely, expensive clothes are size 12. But I have had a look at them - it will be months before I lose enough weight to fit into them - and they are now a bit out of style. Some good classic prices however to look forward too!

any one else struggling with their wardrobe?

Yes I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been buying clothes that tune in to the deliberately oversized look which just fit me now but will also work when I’m slimmer. There’s a good Navy cashmere jumper at Arket and plenty of oversized style T-shirts around. I also bought a pair of really great stretchy silver mock leather trousers from The Cotswold Shed that I can get on now, will look festive but will look better when slimmer.

Brilliant ideas - I am googling now!!

I have a formal dinner event and I tried on a lovely dress last night - I nearly cried both at awful I looked in it and at the price tag🤭.

i know I can get things altered later once I have lost more weight - but I would only buy that style of dress when I am this weight. My whole bony shape will hopefully change.

I need some new bits, but don't want to buy too many until I get to my (ever changing) goal weight/size. I picked up a pair of black trousers which were cheap enough that I won't mind only getting a few wears before they go into the charity bag, and nice enough to go with a few tops I have.

It's hard to know what size to buy too, which makes it more difficult. I've lost some of the weight I want to shift, but I am never sure if I need a 12 or 14 in different shops - I still need a 16 in some of them too. Sizes seem to have changed so much in the last few years. It's disappointing if you buy 2 x 14s in the same shop and one fits but the other doesn't - of course I then focus on the one that doesn't!

Congrats on your weight loss.

Vinted. Buy some things that make you feel nice for the short term.

I confess I have never tried vinted

i am at that weird stage where my clothes are baggy but the next size down doesn’t fit yet. My jeans fell down today🤣. But it’s because they are so stretched from my heavier days.
