What is a safe way to lose weight when breastfeeding a toddler?

I have gained so much weight since having a baby just over 2 years ago and I really want to lose weight. I am almost 19 stone which is the heaviest I have ever been and I want to know how I can safely lose weight (preferably without calorie counting as it becomes obsessive) whilst still continuing to breastfeed my 2 year old.

Hey OP, I think on WW (maybe Slimming World too?) you can select an option that you're breastfeeding and you get a greater allowance but can still do they programme.

For me personally, breastfeeding prevented me losing weight. I know it makes some people lose weight, but I was the opposite. I couldn’t lose a single pound until I stopped breastfeeding then two stone just fell off. Sadly in the end my decision to stop breastfeeding was primarily because being fat was affecting my mental health and I wanted to lose weight. Sorry I can’t be more help!

If you're almost 19 stone then you have a lot of fat reserves and you can certainly be in a moderate calorie deficit safely.

Prioritise protein at each meal. Cut back on high calorie junk. Don't cut out carbs but remember they are higher in cals for less volume. Bulk out meals with lots of veg/salad.

Make sure you do minimum of 10k steps a day.
