Do tall people weigh more than they look?

I'm a 6'2 tall girl, weighing around 15 stone 4 and I won't say I'm overweight and certainly people don't think so as well. People often get very surprised at how much I weigh and sometimes say something like, "Really, you don't look like you weigh more than 12".

Do tall people carry weight really well?

@UnctuousUnicorns thank you for sharing. So now I know!

Id have to have some pretty disordered eating to get to 8st and I wouldn’t look nearly as healthy as you do.

well done on the weight loss.

Thank you! 🥰 I do think I look and feel better. Of course it's far too low a weight for the tall women here; I bet you all look right in proportion at your weights.

I'm 5 foot 3 and weigh 10 stone. I'm a size 10. People always say I'm slim but it appears I weight more than some taller women on here ! I do HIT 4 times a week so maybe it's muscle??

KnackeredBack · 03/12/2023 10:55

Yep - 5'10" here and weight 10 stone. I'm definitely on the slim side (on purpose 'cos of knackered back...hence the username), but whenever people have tried to guess my weight, it's always, "oh, you can't weight more than 7 stone" unless they too are tall. I had this same conversation with a colleague recently and he's 6'3" and big framed and I think most people think of themselves, at their own fattest weight, and then think that equivalently 'fat' tall people must therefore be the same weight. Once they then think about it, it makes sense that the taller you are, the heavier and wider you are as a general rule, simply due to proportions. You're not going to be a size 2/4/6/8, because you're just a bigger human. Obviously there are always exceptions, but they're few and far between.

I'm 5 foot. If I want to be a size 12 I need to weigh around 8 half stone to 9 stone. Height plays a huge factor in your weight. Might be different for another 5 foot person though.
