December Focus

LadyGwendoline · 30/11/2023 23:35

Still have 65-70lb to lose and really want to stay strong through December as my control feels fragile and simply must get healthier. Accountability is good. No negative comments about how I’m doing it, we all have our own ways.

1st December
Breakfast: homemade lemon and ginger tea
Lunch: soup (Hearty vegetable & pulses) ryvita
Dinner: Scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, Seeded sourdough

14st 11 weigh in on the first. I’d like to be down four pounds by January. Have bought an exercise bike/elliptical but have to still build it 😆.

14 stone 10.2 today. Won’t weigh until next Sunday now. Feel flat and not at all interested in the food I am eating, which is unheard of for me so maybe I’m coming down with something. TOTM is due but usually that makes me starving.

Today’s food: berries and yoghurt, tomato sourdough bread open sandwich of Philadelphia/garlic/cucumber/tomatoes,
chicken & cabbage soup.

LadyGwendoline · 04/12/2023 12:27

Really not hungry, but am very tired. Will try and concentrate on protein and fluids the next few days I think.

LadyGwendoline · 05/12/2023 20:01

Well, TOTM but still not hungry. Made myself eat a little bit of white meat and salad, and a protein yoghurt. Exhausted.

Can I join you? I am hopping on loads of threads today! I am trying to navigate December without going totally off track and I feel like the more threads I post on here, the more focused I will be.

I hope you feel better tomorrow, can you get an early night?

LadyGwendoline · 05/12/2023 22:26

@85isalive hello! I completely get joining lots of threads, I may have previously done the same…tell me more about the track you are on? What is your long term focus? December can be hard, January too I think - if December is allowed to get out of hand.

I’ve been reading in bed all evening, relaxed even if I didn’t sleep and do feel a bit less exhausted. Tomorrow I have a fair bit of driving to do so hoping to feel a lot brighter. Will eat porridge with Greek yoghurt before starting, give myself a boost.

Thank you!

I am (very slowly) working towards a 6 or 7 stone loss. I am 4 stone down now and I want to get to 6 by around Easter, which will be fast for me! So I don't want to lose too much momentum over December. I am usually OK in Jan, I am so fed up of eating by then, I look forward to getting back into a routine!

I weigh on a Wednesday, I am down another 3lbs today, which I am delighted with.

I hope you got a good rest last night. Nothing worse than a busy day when you're running on fumes.

LadyGwendoline · 06/12/2023 07:53

That’s a fantastic loss already, well done you!
I have 4 stone to lose still, but know I’ll get there in the end. I found just after getting in to my forties that I was out-of-control-ravenous and piled on a huge amount of weight in a very short amount of time. I’d try to control myself and that wouldn’t even last a couple of hours after waking! I’ve lost just over a stone already, and the relief that I’m back in control is palpable.

Slept for 5 hours straight last night, feel a bit less zombie like now. Not hungry but having a large cup of tea and a pint of water/vitamin C. Plan for later is sourdough and Philadelphia, a quorn stir fry and yoghurt, if i can manage them.

LadyGwendoline · 06/12/2023 16:37

Well a tiring day. Lots and lots of unexpected driving. Have had a yoghurt and two Fibre One bars. Now just counting the minutes (124) till kids go to bed so i can too.

OP posts:
85isalive · 06/12/2023 21:22

I hope you are in bed by now!

I ended up having a chippy dinner. First one in ages and I enjoyed it, but feel a bit sick now! Back on 1200 tomorrow

LadyGwendoline · 07/12/2023 01:17

I was nicely asleep and then the dog barked which is very unlike her; put me on alert so won’t sleep for a while now. Does mean I can get in a bit of overtime as may as well work and not scroll MN!

Yum to a chippy - we used to have one weekly on our date night and I do miss it: now I generally have a feta and olive salad which is lovely but not the same.

OP posts:
LadyGwendoline · 07/12/2023 17:46

Horrible weather here today, got soaked walking the dog early even though I was wrapped up, and have felt chilled all day even after a full change of clothes. Have only managed a fibre one bar, an Options hot chocolate and a hotdog without a roll. Fancy a mug of Bovril in a bit but nothing else. Have had lots of water though.

OP posts:
LadyGwendoline · 08/12/2023 10:56

Porridge for breakfast, cottage cheese salad for lunch, French onion soup & sourdough bread for dinner.

OP posts:
85isalive · 08/12/2023 11:20

I hate that cold that gets into your bones. I hope you got warmed up after a while.

Do you make your own French onion soup? I am not a fan of soup usually, but it would help with the cold bones! I have a lot of coffee and mint tea during the day to keep warm. I usually make a lot of curries and stirfries too, this time of year I want hot food in my belly.

I have my work "do" tonight so having a day off from the cal counting, and going to enjoy my dinner!

LadyGwendoline · 08/12/2023 12:42

@85isalive enjoy your ‘do’! I work completely on my own nowadays, definitely miss having colleagues.

I make loads of soups, living in my area of the Highlands having soup at lunchtime is practically compulsory. French onion is one of DD1’s favourites so it was made for her but did help warm me. Have a thick lentil soup cooking at the minute and think I’ll make curried parsnip for the freezer later. DP and I quite like a thermos of soup with us when we go for a walk.

I definitely love how vegetables can be eaten in plenty, and feel like a lovely meal, yet are brilliant for weight loss. Next year I’m growing my own rainbow chard for stir fries, and onions and carrots too as begrudge the prices they are now and how quickly carrots seem to be going off.

OP posts:
85isalive · 09/12/2023 09:36

I guess some of my curries could be soups, not sure where that line is! I use lots of veg, beans and lentils. Whatever is in the fridge gets chucked in!

My work do was lovely, not too late, and love that I still have the full weekend ahead of me

LadyGwendoline · 10/12/2023 16:29

@85isalive I fancy a good vegetarian curry now 😆. That sounds a nice night out. I haven’t been out in the evening for years, think I’ve forgotten how to!

Have lost 16lbs in total so far, have a lot more to go but pleased that I finally managed to get control of the menopausal insane-hunger. Tomorrow I start tests for Zoe Nutrition, pretty interested to find out the results.

OP posts:
85isalive · 11/12/2023 07:54

I meal prep on a Sunday, and usually batch cook a curry or stir fry. Yesterday I went wild and made a pasta bolognese. I haven't had pasta in months. I actively lose weight in 10 week programmes, and am in a maintenance phase at the moment, so I am relaxing a little now while still cal counting.

I clicked into a thread about Zoe but I have no idea what it is! 16lbs is a great amount, imagine it in bags of sugar! Well done

LadyGwendoline · 12/12/2023 08:06

Thanks @85isalive that’s what I try to do - picture the loss as bags of sugar. Zoe is a way of looking at health that’s very personalised - they look at a stool sample, blood test and you wear a continuous glucose monitor for a fortnight that you can scan and see immediately what effect particular foods have on your blood sugar. We’ll see. Results will take about 4 weeks.

I love when I have the energy to batch cook, I really fancy some bolognese now you mentioned it 😆 but maybe with a baked sweet potato.

OP posts:
85isalive · 13/12/2023 08:06

Zoe sounds interesting! I like that it sounds personalised. It makes sense that people could respond better to a programme that takes their body make up into consideration. I hope you share how you get on with it

I have reached the end of my pasta so will need to cook something else tonight. I might go with a curry. I don't deviate very much!

Down 1lb today, very happy to have a loss after my weekend.

I am finding it tough this week, I just want to eat all the goodies!

Edited for typo!

LadyGwendoline · 13/12/2023 19:22

Do you think it’s the hungry part of your cycle @85isalive ? It can make me ravenous. I’m still disinterested in food, think it’s just fatigue; I can’t find any enthusiasm even for cooking which I do enjoy.
Today’s food: two ryvita with Philadelphia and cucumber, a packet of mini Chedders, half a tin of Heinz 5 Beanz, a chocolate protein pudding. Will try for more tomorrow.

OP posts:
85isalive · 14/12/2023 07:25

I could be, now that you mention it. I have some pmt this week. I think I am a bit bored, it's not actual hunger. I will stick it out, I am meeting my pal on Tuesday, so that is my next day off from tracking the cals.

I hope your interest in food returns soon, you are eating so little, it could be adding to your fatigue?

LadyGwendoline · 14/12/2023 09:35

I agree, so forced myself to have a small bowl of porridge for breakfast. Will walk the dog, work then have something later too.

OP posts:
LadyGwendoline · 14/12/2023 16:05

So today’s food is a lot better: porridge, chicken salad, an apple, and I’ll have a bowl of quark/berries/nuts/seeds later if possible. Still feel unwell, DD had a bug last week and needed a couple of days off school so it could be that.

OP posts:
LadyGwendoline · 15/12/2023 20:13

Finally have some symptoms of a bug apart from fatigue - suddenly started a runny nose, and head feels full of cotton wool behind eyes. Headache.

Managed a yoghurt, small bowl of vegetable stir fry, 2 x fibre one bars and a chocolate protein pudding. Lots of water. Walked dog. Going to sleep now, 8pm on a Friday night - my rock n roll life hahaha. Might listen to some Chris Isaac whilst dozing.
