Emotions around losing weight...

I am all over the shop with how I feel about working to lose weight. And I figured if I have lots of feelings, maybe others might too?

As an example, I am sad that eating chips and gravy doesn't give me the emotional fulfilment it issued to.

Does anyone else has mixed feelings about losing weight?

I don’t think I feel emotional in the same way you mean- but I definitely struggle with emotions linked to weight loss. I feel like it’s unkind to want to lose weight as I want to be all accepting and like myself more and move away from self-disgust and unkindness as that’s just leading to overeating etc anyway.

When I do lose weight though, I don’t feel better about myself. My weight is not my worth and I know that on a rational level but I guess maybe part of me still thinks I don’t somehow deserve to be slimmer… as I always end up self sabotaging.

A lot of this is tied up in body image so you could flip it to health? You will be healthier, lower risk of medical conditions by losing weight. You might not be able to see those things but you will have less aches and pains, maybe a better immune system from a healthy diet. If you reframe the positive outcomes of weight loss other than being thin or looking a certain way, you might find this helps you to have more positive feelings. This is what I am doing anyway
