Trying to lose weight using fitbit but this doesn't make sense? Can anyone help?

I've only eaten 1,232 cals and it's saying I'm 642 cals over budget. I've done about 13,000.
How can I be 642 cals over budget?

Have you set a big target to lose weight? I don’t have a Fitbit but I’m wondering if it’s expecting a large calorie deficit to meet your goal

Because the Fitbit updates calories burnt in real time. Up to 18.41 you had used 1342 calories. You'll continue to use calories between now and midnight. Check tomorrow and you'll see the total calories expended today.

Thanks everyone. I've just found the reason, I had it set up as 900 cals, that's far too little so set to 1400, I think I'll still lose with that as I woukd usually have about 2k I would think.
