Moving from Ozempic to Wegovy - anyone got experience/advice?

Hi - I'm currently on 1mg of Ozempic per week. (not diabetic - buying it privately). Am 10kgs down so far (4 months in), so it's definitely working for me. Very few side effects, get a bit nauseous if I do overeat, and I'm VERY off booze (which, if knew me, you'd know was a miracle!). I do seem to have stalled the last 3 weeks - some of that is because I've had a number of work trips. But I at least haven't put on weight again.

However, I'm wondering if I should move to Wegovy? I know the dosages go higher on Wegovy than Ozempic. Does anyone here have any experience of that? Did you start "at the bottom" again or move straight on to the same dosage as you were on with Ozempic?

I'd appreciate any advice/experience from anyone on here! Thank you.

It was a seamless switch for me 7 months in, from 1mg O to 1mg W. Now gone up to 1.7 W as it was becoming less effective, I'm sure that would have happened on O as well. Been on it for nearly 8 months now with minimal side effects, lost over 4.5 stone and now a normal BMI & waist, absolutely life changing and no regrets. Planning to taper off in the new year. I have learnt so much about nutrition and putting my needs first. But not expecting it to be easy, I'm committed to calorie counting and portion control for life because I have formed good new habits now and never want to go back to the way things were.
Best of luck to you! There is a thread 'for us a few months in', less active these days but has been really lovely and useful for me.

Thank you so much! And huge congrats on your progress, that’s amazing. I know what you mean - I’ve made big changes to my lifestyle already in 4 months and I’m determined to keep those going. The biggest thing for me is the reduction in food noise and being able to use this journey to reset our approaches to food at home - I’m determined that this new attitude will stick regardless of being on O/W or not. My family have learnt that I no longer feel the need for a big evening meal - it was a pre-requisite in our house before and caused quite a few rows when I tried to deviate in the past! Being on O has given me the “excuse” I needed to say enough was enough - and now they have learnt not to expect me to cook for them! Huge change for the better for me! I’ve also learnt (ok, still learning!) to manage my stress differently - instead of reaching for a chocolate bar or a glass(es!) of wine I'm exercising more or having a bath and an early night. So lots of changes that I can thank O for heralding!

Did you stay with the same provider or move to a different one? My current one doesn’t seem to offer Wegovy yet. So I guess I need to decide whether to wait and carry on with O until they do, or to switch to a different one that does - I just don’t want to be made to start at 0.25 again (if I switch). Thank you

Ozempic and wegovy are the exact same drug, semaglutide. The only difference is the packaging.

You definitely don't need to titrate up when switching from one to the other.

@LovelaceBiggWither yes that's what's a bit annoying - I've been in touch with Second Nature, but they've confirmed I'd have to start on 0.25mg Wegovy to join their programme. So I guess I need to find someone who will let me switch to Wegovy but start 1mg. I'll have to hunt for those with it in stock. Superdrug sent me an email but then after I'd filled in the form said it wasn't available!

Oh that is stupid! Or a way for them to make more $.

Hi ….. I have been on wegovy now for 4 weeks and lost 10lb without really trying , eating smaller portions , very little appetite I started on 0.25 and feeling more hungry towards the end of the dose . I start 0.5 tomorrow , very few side effects at times fatigue and some nausea but overall I’m very happy with it , the only problem I have is the cost I order through Voy who are very good and it’s £229 a month but if I refer a friend we both get it half price , I’m sharing the link and if anyone has any questions don’t hesitate to ask or contact me x
