Has anyone with BMI of 40+ tried Wegovy?

I actually haven't dared weigh myself in a while but I know my BMI is 40+. I'm 5'8" and my weight usually settles around 19st but has crept up to 21 before.

I'm a single mum to two teenagers who are also now bigger than they should be, though nowhere near as bad as me, and I know we need to change. I'm 41 and it's not going to get any easier when I hit menopause.

Previous attempts to lose weight have plateaued when I am just too hungry to go on.

The only time I lost a meaningful amount of weight was when I was pregnant with my first daughter (ironically). The position she was in squashed my stomach, for want of a better word, and I just couldn't eat as much. When I had her, I was the slimmest I'd ever been.

This tells me an appetite suppressant would work on me. I don't like the idea of surgery so I figure Wegovy is worth a try to see if it helps me maintain eating less.

Just to be 100% clear I'm only talking about me taking it, not my daughters, but I figure if I'm eating less and losing weight, it might motivate them to eat healthier too.

Has anyone here used it at as high a BMI as me and did it help? Thanks.

@historiccastles Im 12 weeks in. My starting BMI was 46. Now its 41. Only a couple of kg to go until my BMI is down in the 30s.

Expensive but worth it, to me.

My BMI was very close to 40 and I weighed 121kg at my fattest. I’ve been on Ozempic and then Wegovy since the start of this year and am now 86kg. It’s the best decision I could ever have made for myself and my health. I felt I was hurtling towards potentially life threatening health problems and because I have a fairly stressful life I just couldn’t motivate myself to diet the normal way for more than a few days. Obviously everyone is individual but for me it has been well worth it.
