Why have I stalled

Started in august at 11st 7. I managed to get down to 10st 6 and now all of a sudden am back to 10st 9!!!

I weigh myself at the same time of day every time (after morning pee).

I eat around 1000 cals a day. Avoid all rubbish. Eat stuff like grilled fish and steamed veg, salads, salmon or chicken with rice and broc

I'm exercising 3-4 times a week (2 HIIT sessions, one yoga and a short run)

WHY AM I GAINING WEIGHT (target is 9st 8ish)

You’re exercising quite a lot so you could be gaining muscle. Have you measured yourself? However, I’d also say your calories are very low in comparison to how much you’re exercising, so I’d be surprised if you were able to maintain muscle.

You're not eating enough.

floofbag · 17/10/2023 06:51

Are you weighing and tracking absolutely everything?

Use the nutra check app and weigh everything . You should eat at least 1200 cals a day . Up your protein and drink more water

You will lose weight if you are in a calorie deficit

When I was losing weight I could do everything perfect and some weeks I just wouldn't lose. The following week I'd usually lose an extra pound. It will even out in the long run.

It could simply be that winter is coming? I always find it harder to lose weight this time of year, but in spring and summer it is much easier.

whatqualifiesasahero · 17/10/2023 20:28

Yes. Weighing absolutely everything as I think that's where mr calories added up before - guessing and not checking.

I feel so annoyed this week!

You're not eating enough.

This. I don’t know what height you are but it’s rare for something to be as active as you are and to only need 1,000 calories a day. I’m 5ft 2 and I’d always go for a minimum of 1,200 calories.

you might want to consider what they call reverse dieting which is increasing your calories so you’re eating at maintenance or just above for a little while and then cutting your calories so you’re back in a deficit. I think it kind of resets your metabolism.

CyberCritical · 17/10/2023 20:37

How much are you drinking? The process of breaking down fat (lipolysis) and healing muscles damaged during exercise both use water, lots and lots of water. If you aren't drinking enough you won't lose weight.

You are also eating very low calorie, do a TDEE calculator and see whether you should be eating more.

whatqualifiesasahero · 17/10/2023 20:48

I wonder if I need to up my water intake. Ag the beginning of my loss I was drinking 2 litre + every day but I'm probably only doing 1-1.5l at the mo

And I'm 5'4 if that matters

I would only worry if you are gaining weight over many weeks. Weight loss is seriously a major journey. Anyone who has lost significant weight will tell you it’s a rollercoaster. I’m up down, stalled, all over the place I can gain 4lbs one day then 2lbs off the next and I’ve been convinced I will not lose and then have a nice surprise. I can be bloated and constipated and inactive and not lose anything sometimes. You should look at WL across a month a longer period not a week or a few days.
