I’m getting married next year (only booked this year) and Iv put on a lot of weight over the last 2 years.

Iv already started my diet and I’m pushing my dress fitting/try on to as late as possible.

So I just wondered what was the most weight people have lost in the shortest time frame and what did you do to lose it?

Interesting question. I'm on day 17 of taking Mysimba and have lost 10lbs so far.

2 years ago I went on a Slimming World diet and lost 78lbs in 7 months.

Dnendns · 04/10/2023 21:28

78 is amazing!

I can only hope I could do as good as that.

I think it depends on how much you have to lose, someone with 5 stone to lose will lose more in a shorter space of time then someone who has 2 stone to lose.
I had 4 stone to lose and lost nearly 2 stone in 20 months, 11 pounds of that was lost over 3 months and using Orlistat

My first attempt at BIWI's low carb bootcamp on here. 26 pounds in 10 weeks. Sadly I couldn't keep it up beyond about 6 months.

Octobermeterreadtime · 04/10/2023 21:33

Lost 20 stone overnight..
Ltb!!. Rooting for you op. Have a couple of stones to lose now but no willpower...

bossybloss · 04/10/2023 21:33

I bought a book called Escape The Diet Trap which was low carb diet really. I lost 3 stone in four months for a wedding … but it wasn’t sustainable.

I lost 8pounds in one week. Sadly that was a result of finding out I had a bad gallbladder and was terrified to put any food in my mouth for the first week on the 3% per 100g of fat diet. Has levelled off now to either a pound or two pound a week.

Luckydog7 · 05/10/2023 07:23

I went from 13st 3 to 10st 10 so 35lb in under 3 months.

I did a mail order keto diet for the first 2 weeks which got me in the zone.

Bf. Natural yogurt with 100% nut granola
Lunch. Low carb Soup e.g. broccoli and Stilton, mushroom.
Dinner was meat in a sauce with green veggies. So meatballs in tom sauce with green beans, chicken curry with courgettes/spinach.

Portions were small, probably half of what you would normally have and first few days was rough but it completely changed my taste buds, settled my hormones, I went from hungry all the time to skipping meals because my appetite disappeared and I just forgot.

The company isn't good any more but I still follow the plan above if I need to.

I was looking into Orlistat this morning as a friend takes it and it’s pretty cheap

Over a stone in 3 weeks. I was 16 and in hospital recovering from being thrown from a horse onto metal fencing and concrete.

TheShellBeach · 05/10/2023 12:10

I recommend Orlistat.
I lost a stone in my first week.
You can ask your GP for them, so they don't cost anything. (Mind you, that isn't true if you live in England and have to pay prescription charges.)

I am in England so the prescription is £9 something I think.

I wonder how many pills they give you at one time.

It may be cheaper getting them on prescription from a online pharmacy.

It’s £35 for 84 pills I think

They generally give 84 at a time, which is a month's supply.

TheShellBeach · 05/10/2023 14:34

Pharmica online pharmacy sell them for less than £35 for 84, but try your doctor first.

Thank you.

I have an app next week anyway so I’m going to ask then.
