I can't say I'm an expert... but I have done both!! With SW I lost 10lbs fairly easily, but got used to eating the massive amounts of food that you could have!!! So, for me, it was all to easy to put weight on again after I finished the diet and started mixing the greens and reds!
With WW, I lost 2 stone, and had managed to keep it off until I got pregnant!!
Just found with WW that it teaches you a sensible way of eating... even after you stop going to meetings. I'm sure you'll hear from SW fans who will beg to difer though!!

Talking of which I'm going back to WW tomorrow.... [arrrrrgh emoticon]

Hi

I'm on WW at the mo, done it before i got pregnant too and lost 3 stone is 9 months. Was really easy to follow and carry on even after i lost all my weight, just like Neney1 said.

Never done SW, because i'm not one to cut out carbs on ANY day!! love them too much esp mash potatoes... it think they should be compulsory to any diet!!!

I hope you find the right one for you Dollyk.

SW works for me because i'm greedy and like lots of food. I can't get my head around the idea that fruit costs points on WW. I'd be more likely to skip the fruit and veg for a bag of crisps.

Ledodgy · 07/03/2008 15:39

I do all green days on slimming world so no need to cut out carbs at all. I lost nearly 4 stone in 8 months and have gone back to it since having my baby it's fab. Have done ww in the past but it wasn't for me.

JossStick · 07/03/2008 16:16

There's only one way to find out.......

FIGHT!!!

(just imagine the costumes)

Ledodgy · 07/03/2008 16:17

Ha a man at our SW bought the consultant a bottle of WW wine to say thank you talk about feeding the enemy!

Ledodgy · 07/03/2008 16:19

Weightwatchers would win in a fight because they'll all be heavier than us slinky sw members so it wouldn't be fair.

Celery · 07/03/2008 16:22

People do seem to very loyal, to the point of defensiveness, to either one or the other!! I've never done SW, but I am a big fan of WW. I needed the points system to tell me when to stop eating, because even when eating healthily, I just ate too much of it. The portion control aspect of the WW points system was essential for me. And I was never really hungry, if you get our head around it and use your points wisely, and fill up on veg, it's not hard.

auntieem · 07/03/2008 16:23

Never done SW but am doing WW I've lost nearly 2 stone and still going strong. It doesn't have to be about points they now do a Core Plan which is very easy to follow and no counting!

Mine · 07/03/2008 17:13

tee hee - love the ides of WW v SW !!!

Why cut out carbs... you SW must be loons... think of all the mash potato you're all missing out on.. oh and chips, and rice and pasta!
Life is not worth living if you can;t have these things

Ledodgy · 07/03/2008 17:51

You don't cut out carbs in SW! On a red day you have limited carbs and more meat on a green day you have as much carbs as you like and limit meat! On a green day you can eat pasta and rice until it's coming out of your ears if you wish none of this weighing 3 pieces malarky. You can do all red or all green or a mixture of both.

jellybeans · 07/03/2008 17:57

Both worked for me but I prefer WW overall as it was easier to do on holiday or eating out and I could eat more junk/conveinience food (prob not good though!) SW was good in that like someone said you can eat loads, I used to eat about 4 jacket potatoes for lunch and tea on a green day and still lost 2 lbs a week. As soon as I come off them the weight piles on as it has with everyone else (bar one) that I know that has done them. i think you need to stick with one for life.

Mine · 07/03/2008 21:59

i;m with you jellybean... if had self control/portion control i wouldn;t be overweight!!!
So WW it is for me.

Which one is it to be Dolly??!!!!!!!
