2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

I'm still continuing to gain. I got down to 12.1 and today I am 12.4. FUMING. Last night I ran 5k at the gym and burnt off 420 calories. I need to have a really good week next week - food, drink & gym work.

On the plus side, my work trousers are a little looser. I am desperate to see 11 stone on the scales, even if 11st 13lb, I would happily take that PLEASE !!!!

RedDoughnut · 13/10/2023 13:36

@Boyboyboy10 That seems grossly unfair!
Any thoughts on why?

Ah I hate this effect of the scales.

I was reluctant to weigh frequently, but my scales told me I had lost almost a stone in 3 weeks despite one of those weeks being distinctly off the wagon.

I'm sure it's a combination of water weight/hormonal fluctuations but psychologically it is disappointing to feel like you have made progress, step on the scale and see the same number or a higher number!

P.s. checking in again. I'm plodding along. I turn 30 in 1 week and very much have that rushing sense of "right, must just get on with this now, no more procrastinating." I've never really had that sense of urgency before, so am hoping it will help me to continue on my journey.

chalkyc2 · 13/10/2023 13:58

@Boyboyboy10 I am having similar frustrations!! I got down to 87.9 on Monday, then Tuesday was 88.5 and have stayed there all week. I've done nothing different, no falling off the wagon, consistent. I'm gritting my teeth and keeping going, nothing else for it. I feel your pain.

Goneback2school · 13/10/2023 14:52

Today's weigh in has me at 88.6kg for a total weight loss of 7.8kg in a week less than two months.

Boyboyboy10 · 13/10/2023 16:06

@RedDoughnut I've strayed a little this week food wise but nothing that I would consider too bad:

2 cherry bakewell cakes (Mr Kipling, not huge bakery-type ones)
i did have a large chocolate bar but I've worked my butt off in the gym to pay for that
A few biscuits
2 plain white rolls

I've cut down wine this week. I've worked hard in the gym. The weight gain is not muscle as I measure that on my rhenpo scales. My only hope is that I use the toilet later on - if you know what I mean LOL

jeomeollibyeoldul · 13/10/2023 21:17

had a good day today! menu was as follows....

breakfast, waffles, i get the chocolate ones and eat 2 at about 300 cals. not exactly healthy but my treat for the day and i love them for breakfast
lunch, porridge, crisps, cheese and an apple
dinner, pork belly

didnt really snack. work finishes early on friday... so glad its the weekend. tomorrow i need to cook again as out of food but think ill make curry.

recklessgran · 14/10/2023 09:20

Morning all. Happy weekend everyone. There's some great work going on here - it's lovely to read what everyone's up to. I've been good so far this week but tonight we are out for dinner with DH's brother and SIL. Looking at the menu it could be tricky. I'll do my best but it will be a damage limitation exercise. I'm hoping for a loss on Monday. The main change this week is that I'm now only allowing myself one 100 calorie snack a day which I am having mid afternoon. This means that more of my 800 calorie allowance is being used on my 2 meals which makes them a little more substantial. I just hope I can keep going!

Boyboyboy10 · 14/10/2023 15:30

Just smashed my running PB. I breezed it tbh. The hard work in the gym is paying off in terms of stamina. Just need the lbs to drop off. Hoping for a 4lb loss next Saturday. That's going to be hard going. Keep your eyes on the prize!

RedDoughnut · 14/10/2023 20:38

I saved my calories for a pizza.
It was a Co-op spinach and ricotta and I added mushrooms and onions.

I would have liked ice cream for dessert but I resisted!

Crikey I'm both agog and depressed at what people are eating. I'm eating between 1000 and 1300 calories a day. As the weather has cooled (I live overseas) I am doing more exercise and more work every day . Today I sanded, painted and gardened for 9 hours. I ate 1100 calories. I calorie count and do 16:8.
I am morbidly obese so should be losing weight. Since June I've lost 6kgs. I'm so depressed. I know my calories are correct. I weigh everything. I'm adding protein and reducing carbs. I eat cut out alcohol at home so that was two glasses a night.
Right now I'm at a loss what to do. I thought I could lose weight with this concentrated effort. I'm peeing for England drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Hey ho. Maybe the tide will turn but it's not easy.
I'm very envious of those that are doing well and eating Bakewell tarts, crisps or pizza.
Well done everyone. It isn't easy but you guys are amazing.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 14/10/2023 21:41

personally, the crisps i like are hula hoops, one packet of those is only about 140 cals. i think 6kgs weight loss is actually impressive, but i know it can be very difficult when youre stuck in the monotonous slog of it. i guess its one of those times when you just have to 'trust the process'. something im definitely doing as im not weighing myself at all yet!

had a good day today, ate waffles, a sandwich, egg on toast with salmon and some fruit and cheese for dessert. couldnt make curry in the end as we are out of rice. will probably make it tomorrow when our shopping comes in as i need to use up veg... had a walk and other than that didnt do much else. have a feeling this week at work will be a busy one so taking some rest.

RedDoughnut · 14/10/2023 21:53

@Isthiscorrect my pizza was 604 calories.

I've only had fruit and salad. And 2 jellies.
Will have a hot chocolate soon.

I should come in at about 1100 cals.

I need to keep under 1400.

OP posts:
Isthiscorrect · 14/10/2023 21:56

Thank you @jeomeollibyeoldul I'm not snacking but good to know hula hoops are at the better end of the options.

Well down @RedDoughnut I know from your posts you've been doing well. So was your pizza the first thing you ate today?

RedDoughnut · 14/10/2023 22:01

@Isthiscorrect I had no breakfast and fruit for lunch and one lotus biscuit ( this was not something I could normally stop at but there was only one left) so I could eat pizza in front of the tv!

Tomorrow I'm saving calories to have the ice cream. If I can. I don't know what my willpower will do from one day to the next.

Sorry to hear you are struggling, I agree 6kg (nearly a stone right?) is still fantastic progress.

I'm also impressed with everyone balancing their diet to include some treats; I've been able to copy this for the first time and it actually does really help. Like some others this type of moderation simply wouldn't have been possible for me in the past. Feels great to eat 1 or 2 cookies and it seems to be contributing to me staying on track.

Kudos also to those of you on such big calorie deficits. I've got a 2k limit each day and try to come in a little under if I can but am no longer stressing about it as the weight appears to be coming off (I am huge though, starting weight of 20 stone 9lbs.)

Well after joining I’ve been a bit rubbish, we returned from a holiday in Spain yesterday and I’m on it with a vengeance as I’m suffering with some kind of heat rash/ chafing under my arms which I’m guessing is due to my weight. Whilst on holiday I ordered a treadmill which arrives on Friday and am going to be calorie counting and cutting out alcohol!
I will not be going on holiday at this weight again ever.

suneetime · 16/10/2023 07:35

I’ve put 1lb on this week.I’m not surprised as I’ve had way too many treats this week and eaten out a couple of times but in the past a gain would have had me giving up. But I’m determined to get back on track this week and keep going. I’m going to stick to 16.8, try and drink lots more water and choose more wisely. Fingers crossed!

It's good to have lost each week, although I think lots of you lost more in the first week alone 😁.

Keep on keeping on everyone.

recklessgran · 16/10/2023 07:50

Morning all this weigh day Monday.
Start weight 15st
Last week 14 st 9lbs
Today [Week 4] 14st 5.25lbs
That's a loss of 3.75lbs which I find astonishing considering we've been out to eat twice and I've also been out for lunch with a g/f where subway was consumed and a drink in the pub! To be fair, I was extremely careful on the two meals out. The only difference is that I've completely cut out all snacks bar one a day. I am having a small piece of cheese mid afternoon to keep me going until dinner. Other than that it's a virtually no carb lunch such as a couple of eggs or tuna with a green salad and a very low carb dinner. After dinner if I feel I need a treat I'm have a zero sugar jelly with half a dozen rasperries. On the two nights we ate out, I definitely didn't stick to my daily 800 calories so now I'm wondering whether to increase my calories on two nights a week to emulate that and give my body a "shock". Is that a thing or is it b*?
I shall stick with this new regime as best I can and hope for the best. I'm still wondering if I can make the stone off by the time I go on holiday on 5th November - just under 3 weeks to go. That was my interim goal when we all started and I'll be thrilled if I manage it because my clothes will look so much better. Eyes on the prize as @RedDoughnut says - still a long way to go!

I'm a bit disappointed as I was 15.13 yesterday and was delighted to be in the 15s! Haven't seen that as a starting number for years!

But
I had about 12 deep fried Poppadums with my curry last night.
I don't think I've put on a pound because of them but they are salty so maybe it did not help?

I'm still feeling committed. ( it's a miracle!)

10 weeks to Christmas I'm going to have to tighten up a bit to get to my 2 stones off as I'm losing 1.5 per week lately.

My start weight was 11st 12. I did manage to dip to 11st 9 on Saturday but I was 11st 11 this morning as DH bought loads of tangfastics yesterday Halo but still, a pound off is a pound off!

Littlegoth · 16/10/2023 12:17

just 0.1kg off this week, but it’s my first post pregnancy period so not worried. Fingers crossed for a bumper loss next week.

Suma2021 · 16/10/2023 13:10

2lbs off since last week making my total loss 6lbs.

Quite amazed to have lost anything these last 2 weeks, but just goes to show occasional "fall off the wagon" moments are still OK and am heading in the right direction. We've had birthday cakes and meals out and drinks.
But what I haven't done since starting is have a big binge blow out like I did before. Breaking out of that habit is a massive step for me so feeling quite motivated now to carry on and keep it up and this thread is really helping too!

Well done everyone.
