2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Morning all. I've lost a pound, to bring me to 14st 0. I'm half annoyed only to have lost a pound after I thought I'd been doing well. I guess the days of a 5lb first week loss are a menopause away!

But if I keep this up I could be a stone healthier by Christmas which would be wonderful.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 25/09/2023 07:26

X posted - what a great loss @recklessgran! Well done.

Hi, can I join too? Was supposed to start 2 weeks ago, but those two weeks have gone and I just didn't commit. 2 stones by Christmas would be the best Christmas present ever! I have a trip to the UK in November and I would really like to have lost a stone by then, as I can't fit in any of my winter clothes.... I plan to exercise 5 mornings a week, completely cut out the wine and calorie count.

Starting weight 82kg

recklessgran · 25/09/2023 07:36

@TheTurn0fTheScrew thank you - I'm shocked but not getting ahead of myself as I'm a very long way from where I need to be. I always think of my loss in terms of packs of butter, so, yes I'm quite encouraged this morning - I had to be super strict though and stuck rigidly to my plan despite 2 or 3 socials. I've spent months trying, failing and moaning that nothing I do works so now I'm doing what I knew all along works for me. 16:8, low carb, 800 calories. It's a tough regime but I'm done with kidding myself and finally got my head in the game.

RedDoughnut · 25/09/2023 07:45

@ChickenChipsandBeans Of course, welcome. You may need to change your user name as chips won't help ;-)

@recklessgran Amazing results! Keep going! I'd like to be the weight you are now by Christmas!

I had an awful day with food yesterday. I had a bacon roll, with butter, a chocolate cookie, wine and topped it all off with a KFC chicken burger. Fuming with myself. I did do a 10 mile walk and the gym over the weekend. Got on the scales this morning, they showed a gain (again). I jumped off before Rehnpo could register it. I Do need a poo this morning, that could see half pound off. I seem to have stopped losing, even when I was 100%on it. Feeling frustrated. Off to the gym again today, being super good with food. This is so hard

GoodDream · 25/09/2023 07:59

Well done on the losses so far and sorry to everyone struggling - keep at it!

I had a good week, with just a small blip consisting of a couple of unexpected pints. Exercised six out of seven days which definitely helped!

WI 1:
Challenge starting weight: 11st 9
Current weight: 11st 6
Loss: 3lbs
Total loss: 3lbs

@Boyboyboy10 Today is a new day. Your day sounded like how I got to over 18 stones.
How about making a plan of food for the day or even the week?

I found this weekend a struggle. Probably because I was out of routine and not home much.

Monday weigh in. 13 stone 1 1b down to 12 stone 10 and a quarter lb. I went over my calories Friday and Sunday. But I realised that even a bit over, its nothing like I was eating before. I'm expecting this week to be tougher. Well done everyone

TrialbySourdough · 25/09/2023 08:32

My goal for today is to have my soup for lunch without a side of bread and butter. And somehow be happy with that.

How is everyone handling drinking and socialising v a low calorie life? I mean, I'm happy to drink one diet Coke, but I don't want a second. What do you drink? Fizzy water?

Boyboyboy10 · 25/09/2023 08:56

@RedDoughnut ty. I've been 99% good all other days. Putting yesterday behind me and carrying on today/ this week. I've got a mini goal for end of October. I feel thinner, have been doing a lot of gym work.

ACurlyWurlyTail · 25/09/2023 08:59

Total loss 3

Xmas target 14st
Overall target 11st

Getabloominmoveon · 25/09/2023 09:03

Well I obviously chose a very bad week to start this as it included a trip abroad, 2 work dinners, a Wine Club evening and a big weekend social event. Although I was reasonably disciplined during the daytime, I’ve found it very hard to say No to food and drink placed in front of me. Watching Queen Camilla and Brigitte Macron at a big banquet got me thinking how they maintain their weight with so many social events based around food and wine. I guess they just don’t neck it all like me.

Weighed in this morning at 72.6 kg - lucky not to have gained more. Got a quieter week ahead and will be tracking with mfp.

Good luck this week dieters!

Losingmymind85 · 25/09/2023 09:10

I'm starting afresh today. Still not in the headspace but going to committ to breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks of fruit and nuts. Need to go out and buy some.
I hope to make it past Thursday this week.

Well done on losing that pound!

I know what you mean, though, about menopause. It's depressing, isn't it? I am not weighing myself this time, for that very reason - the weekly losses, if they happen at all, can actually be demotivating. "All that work and the scale hasn't moved!"

I had good success 3 years ago - weighed myself once every two or three months - and lost 20 pounds in a year.

I will weigh myself for maintenence. Otherwise you can gain quite a bit back without realising.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 25/09/2023 09:25

@NinaFinch that sounds really difficult. i can understand when something stresses a person out, but it should not be taken out on family with all the resulting tension and hurt etc etc. life isnt supposed to be that hard. have you had a conversation with him about it?

going to be busy with work today and probably going for a ready meal for lunch today. dinner i havent even thought about yet. we will see what happens when i get to the end of the day tired from work 😆

WinterNightStars · 25/09/2023 09:46

Hi, I'd like to join please as need to shift some weight by Christmas too🤞 I'd love to be 11st but not sure that's even possible since the menopause!
Start weight is 77.2kg (12st 2.2lbs)
Mini goal is 73kg (11st 7lbs)
Goal 70kg (11st)

Seddon · 25/09/2023 10:33

Having been sugar free for 3 weeks I indulged a bit yesterday - a piece of cake and small glass of wine, though I kept to my calorie limit for the day.

BOY did I feel awful when I woke up today! So tired and achy. I don't know why that happened but it's motivated me to stay in keto for the time being, no more treats!

Sparky81 · 25/09/2023 10:49

Week 1 weigh in and I've lost 5lbs 🙂
Obviously a lot of that is water and bloat but don't even care, I'm taking it.
Don't think I can keep up the 800 calories for too long without getting fed up so I'm going to relax it to 2/3 meals a day, low carb and no snacking. Not weighing stuff either. Too much like work. Reckon it'll naturally be around 1200 cals based on what im eating give or take

RigorMortisRadio · 25/09/2023 13:41

Well after my 'pre-planned' bad weekend I'm trying to get straight back into it.

I have had a pain au chocolat for breakfast but I've counted my calories for the rest of the day and I'm coming in at under 1400 cals as long as I don't have any snacks! I have had to guesstimate my tea as it's bolognese out the freezer, I'm going to have less pasta and more veg with it though.

Even though I'll be using Friday as my weigh day I wanted to weigh myself this morning to see what damage the weekend had done but I'm at my DP's and his scales have run out of battery! I normally weigh every day, as like a pp said I can find weekly weigh ins demoralising due to fluctuations but I'm tempted to just leave weighing myself until I'm home on Friday morning now instead of nipping out the buy a new battery.

Hello I’ve been lurking and just reading this has been really encouraging. So I’d love to join in please 😍 I started about 10 days ago.
I would absolutely love to loose 2st by Christmas.

I’m 5ft 5, age 41 and my starting weight was 11st 6lb. I was 9st once in my 20s. I’ve tried the gym, weight watchers in the past but I want to do this with me being in control for once iyswim? I’ve bought scales and I’m reading dr mosleys book fast 800. I’m determined to stop the emotional binge eating and wine. But a few glasses on a Fri/Sat maybe!

I weighed myself yesterday morning and I’m 11st 1lb.

I’m really happy with this, thank you for starting this thread ❣️

clpsmum · 25/09/2023 15:26

Weighed in today and another 3lbs off so half a stone in two weeks I'm happy with that and hope I. And keep it up!
