@thenewaveragebear1983 loving the sound of your jeans, it's such a problem for me to get to Primark. Bootcut are my favourite cut.

I think sometimes you just strike lucky with an excellent fitting pair, they are the absolutely perfect length over trainers as well.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/03/2024 18:05

Maintain for me this week, I think
i got off lightly to be honest. I’m having a ‘last supper’ night off tonight, we’re having pizzas and I am going to have some wine, some pudding etc and get it out of my system. I find the inevitable ‘Easter crash’ looming just too stressful to be honest, we actually have no plans so I’ve decided to do my Easter excesses today and then I can get back on track.

I’m eagerly awaiting the delivery of my new garmin watch, my old one has broken and it said delivery between 4 and 6- so already late! If that arrives I’m looking forward to a nice long run tomorrow!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/03/2024 06:54

morning after the night before : update

I feel dreadful. Wine. Pizza. Pudding 🤮 🤣

was awake several times in the night and up at 6 with the dog and remembering how nice it was not to drink! A healthy day of salad and water I think for me!

endlesswashing · 29/03/2024 07:23

I've got the lurgy (end of term gift!) So now a quite weekend is on the cards. Visit to my parents is postponed as I don't want them catching it. Had some horrible news this week so taking it easy. Chocolate will certainly get a bashing and I've been making my way though the packet of hot cross buns. Back on it after Easter.

Hope you all enjoy the long weekend.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/03/2024 07:52

@endlesswashing hope you feel better soon. My lurgy is still lingering around and every few days has a little revival. There’s some nasty and very persistent bugs around this year. Wrap up warm and take care of yourself

poorpaws · 29/03/2024 07:56

@thenewaveragebear1983 Sorry to hear you don't feel good this morning. Remember this feeling for next time (says she who never learns). I hope you can detox soon.

@endlesswashing I hope you feel better very soon and it doesn't completely spoil your Easter weekend. Take it easy and be good to yourself.

Oh my, I have to admit the truth don't I? Last night, after a good day, I had the biggest chocolate binge 🙈. It's difficult to even recount what I managed to consume but I know there were several granola bars, a minstrel egg with the chocolates inside and the rest is a blank. It's a bit like when you drink far too much alcohol and you lose count after the first few and carry on drinking and after so long you hardly even taste the alcohol. I feel quite sluggish with a chocolate hangover. Why can't I just remember this feeling and never do it again, why! Ugh I don't like myself this morning.

We're off to our cafe later this morning and I've decided to have one of their mega breakfasts, it's Easter, and a lovely treat.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter holiday despite hangovers and lurgy. By next Tuesday I am going to knuckle down and get this damned weight off (again).

Happy Easter everyone 🐣, have a great long weekend.

We went for an impromptu curry last night, with some friends. It was really nice, but of course- too much foooooooddddd!!!! I dared the scales this morning and I’m up 6lbs overnight!! My capacity to hold water is surely something Guinness record worthy?

I whitewashed my kitchen walls yesterday and will do a nice sage/beige today- I love a decorating project . Lovely day here, perfect running and dog walking weather, washing out on the line and windows open to let the day in. ☀️

I have just affirmed to dh that I am not drinking today and not eating any junk food! Let’s see how long that lasts. I have no social plans today so as long as no unexpected socials crop up, I should be ok 👌

poorpaws · 30/03/2024 08:05

@thenewaveragebear1983 6 lbs off again in no time! Good luck with your painting project, sage is my favourite colour (teal runs a close second) so I'm sure it will look amazing. I hate a decorating project and my home could do with a lick of paint inside and out but I don't have the energy or skill. Strange that I can wallpaper but I'm the worlds very worst painter.

Yesterday was a huge disappointment. The weather was awful again when the forecast had shown it to be a better day. We got wet through yet again on the dog walk and our cafe couldn't get the usual thick top quality bacon so it was thin and slightly smoked and tasted awful. Luckily they are getting the other one back next week. Also, it's a tiny place with just one lady running it and it was packed. That could most likely be our fault because we've told so many people about it and most have tried it and recommended it too and now it's gone from a secluded heaven to too many people trying it and becoming regulars.

I did slightly better with my eating last night but for the next three days there will be a lot of food consumed. On Tuesday I want to start exercising again and really cut down on food and spending. I'd like to come out of April lighter and healthier with a bit more money but we shall see.

Have a lovely Easter Saturday everyone.

1lb down for me, not sure how to be honest. Another slow day with some rest planned. Both DD's had friends to stay last night so we've got 4 sleeping teens. Enjoying the peace before they wake up and need feeding.

Theredjellybean · 30/03/2024 10:30

Hello everyone..
My final 7/7 weigh in has me down 2.8 kgs or 6.1 lbs.
Given the awful last few weeks and the huge urge to eat my feelings, I'm pleased.
I'm relaxing a bit over the weekend and then going for a good week next week, then I'm due to go away to Florence for five days. But that depends on my father's chemo etc
I'd like to get past Florence at this weight (72) so just kept it level ..then a new push.

Well done everyone on losses or other achievements or just for staying with us xx

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/03/2024 08:17

Hello lovely ladies, happy Easter 🐣

@Theredjellybean well done on your loss, enjoy Florence- beautiful city. I do believe I should have been Italian, I just love love love Italy. And best wishes to you and your dad. 🌷

so….. March is grinding to a close. If you’d asked me last week, I’d have been able to proudly say I’d lost 6-7lbs in 7 weeks, was feeling great. But this weekend I’ve eaten so much rubbish and wine, I am now bloated like anything and daren’t weigh myself. I need an Ass kicking April!

my plan is as follows:

  • continue going to SW to get weighed, but I need to be calorie counting (or at least, aware) because otherwise I eat too much. Half a pound a week is ok, but it is bloody slow and I’m getting bored, frankly.
  • run x 2/3 a week and do my hiit workout 2/3 a week- I have only 2 weeks left with my PT challenge and I want to get the most out of that.
  • food wise- go back to not drinking. I feel dreadful this weekend after a few glasses of wine and I’m bloated and tired and craving crap
  • Stick to my plan, eat more protein, drink lots of water (the usual….) and actually stick to my plans. Eat more veg. Cut out the sweet stuff. It’s not rocket science is it?!
I’m tired of always feeling like I’m back here, starting again…. it’s boring me now. I’m really frustrated with myself that a) I undo my work and b) I never enjoy anything food related because I always feel like this after. It makes eating a real chore.

anyway- my boo-boo ing is over now. Sunny day, long run, delicious dinner planned with lovely spring veggies. Kick April’s ass 🍑

poorpaws · 31/03/2024 21:31

@Theredjellybean under the circumstances that is a great loss and have a fantastic time in Florence. Positive thoughts for your dad x

@thenewaveragebear1983 Oh my word I could have written your post, I am bloated as hell and feel terrible.

I've not stopped eating for days, I feel sluggish, bloated, fat and terrible to name but a few. Tomorrow is my new start, frugal April, that is frugal with food and spending. I've just got to get out of this gluttony and into healthy average portion sizes.

On to jeans news, aggrh!

I kept the rather large size 14 and ordered two pairs of size 12. As I said before I am most definitely not a size 12, I'm a size 14 heading ever closer to being a size 16 which makes me feel physically sick at the thought. Anyway the jeans arrived quickly and the first pair fitted very nicely, although still too long, win right? The second pair were tiny and I could hardly get them on never mind thinking of fastening them, I would guess a size 10 at most.

I rang M&S Customer Servies who told me to send the second pair back and order a new pair. A long conversation continued about the time, expense and stupidity of it all as every new pair might be a small pair.

So now I have to go to the store tomorrow with both pairs and try to find someone in Quality Control to sort it out. I really feel like giving up but as I said before I'm desperate for new jeans.

So my new start is tomorrow, so watch this space. I hope you all have a happy Easter Monday tomorrow.

Sorry not a good photograph, that size difference is on both sides of the waistband so quite a big difference.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/03/2024 21:55

My new start is tomorrow too @poorpaws , I ran ten miles today - but then I drank a bottle of rose and ate a triple choc hot cross bun. And a delicious lamb dinner.

my commitment is to be 10 stone 5 by the end of April. That’s 4lbs off from my last weigh in, so anything I’ve regained has to go too.

Have you considered vinted for jeans? Brands like fatface, Jack wills, Bershka, Uniqlo- all do nice jeans and are all dead cheap on vinted. Uniqlo especially are quite generous fitting. I hate jeans shopping, hate it beyond measure but I’ve bought some nice pairs on vinted over the last 6 months or so for just a few pounds.

poorpaws · 31/03/2024 22:01

@thenewaveragebear1983 I've always struggled with jeans but never as badly as this year.

I don't do well with Vinted, my daughter gets all her jeans from there but I struggle to find anything suitable.

I've got a strong feeling I could be in M&S for a long time tomorrow.

Good morning everyone

April, can you really believe it? I braved the scales this morning and considering I was 10 st 2 lbs in November after a very successful 7/7, I think the 11st 3 lbs I saw this morning is pretty disgusting. Anyway not to moan, I'll do my best now Easter is over and as far as I know we haven't go much planned this month.

Disclaimer: because it was such an awful start to the year I refuse to go too mad and half starve myself like I have done in the past, so it's plenty of healthy food for me and just cut out the crap!

I'm food shopping this morning and tbh I'm not even sure what healthy food I fancy. I know there will be plenty of fresh salad and fruit (I know, be careful with fruit sugars, but it's better for me than chocolate when I'm craving something sweet).

Have a lovely day everyone and for those kicking Aprils ass, @thenewaveragebear1983, go girl! Good luck to everyone.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/04/2024 08:07

Well @poorpaws , I was 10.11 on Thursday and this morning I am 11.2.5 😮 in a way, the fact I’ve gained SO MuCh in 4 days it’s reassuring as it simply cannot all be actual weight, but it’s definitely a lot and takes me way back to February in terms of progress. I’m very annoyed.

but- annoyed does not help me does it, so I’m drinking a black coffee and planning my day. I am not drinking anymore- feel very tired and didn’t sleep well last night. I could very easily have a healthy day today, nothing in my way except me. Just need to get my head in gear.

Monday is workout day, going to walk the dog first. Breakfast is overnight oats with rhubarb and skyr. Dinner will be a leftover lamb dinner with lots of veg. I’m going to make a big pot of soup. 🤞 wish me luck!

poorpaws · 01/04/2024 08:30

@thenewaveragebear1983 GOOD LUCK you've got this!

I think because I feel so sluggish and bloated at the very least today will be a good day. In the interests of my frugal April though I have to have chicken curry tonight because I only cooked half yesterday and I don't want to waste. I might slip the dogs a bit of naan cos it's big and probably elenty million calories.

I'm sitting with a black coffee too, contemplating what the hell to buy this morning to keep me on track. I've got oranges, apples and grapes that I didn't eat last week so I'm trying to think of something sweet but low in calories for when the inevitable cravings start tonight.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 01/04/2024 08:32

I dare hardly say this out loud but I'd like half a stone off by the end of April, is this even doable or am I'm setting myself up for another fail? 🙈

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/04/2024 08:40

Do you use any protein supplements @poorpaws ? I never really liked them but my PT said to try them. My favourite sweet treat is frozen raspberries and skyr 0% yogurt (or plain fromage frais) and I mix a scoop of protein powder into the yoghurt which gives it a very thick ‘whippy’ texture. It’s around 200 cals a serving all in but it’s so filling. And while it goes against all my principles, I must admit that the extra protein does actually stave off hunger. If I’m making a breakfast, I add 40g oats and a bit of milk to the yoghurt/protein mixture and make overnight oats. I use a cheap, sugar free protein powder from Asda.

@poorpaws i think half a stone is doable but you’ll need to be on it. Good motivation!

i just looked at the calendar:
8 weeks til I go to Edinburgh - I’d like 8lbs off by then (from my pre-Easter weight)
a further 8 weeks til summer holiday - I actually don’t have another 8 to lose. So- target, absolutely achievable by then!

triplecheeese · 01/04/2024 14:49

greetings 👋🏼 once again... slinking in sheepishly at the back. Hello @poorpaws @endlesswashing @thenewaveragebear1983 @Sedgwick @Theredjellybean and everyone. Room for another one on the Ass Kicking April wagon?

I've been catching up on your adventures, it's been a rollercoaster. I fell out of the thread AGAIN because I have been so stressed (and depressed I suspect) that I haven't been able to muster the courage or clear enough mental clutter to engage with my health. I've just been living off potato waffles and knock-off supermarket magnums while I dealt with some crap personal stuff.

But it sounds like many on here have had a right palaver of 2024 so far. You're a brave bunch!

so ASS KICKING APRIL it is. Scales say 66.8kg (10st 7), and I'd love to be 10st 3lbs by the end of the month. More than that though, I want to be back in the habit of exercising and eating food with more than two colours in it.

  1. run 2 x a week, workout 1-2 x a week
  2. preparing lunches every day (actually taking a break from work to do so)
  3. colourful, nutritious dinners for everyone
  4. logging food

Oh... DH just walked in with loads of discounted Easter chocolate.

Sedgwick · 01/04/2024 15:17

Hi everyone, April yikes. I am up for a strict month. Doing reasonably well here, indulged in some extra food and far too much wine but have only gained a little. I am getting fitter and now do 45 mins on the cross trainer. Proud of that. 6 weeks to my 24th wedding anniversary and a night in gorgeous hotel. I would like to be at goal weight for that.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I read your post about getting bored of refocusing and recommitting and I get that (it’s been over 5 years of fresh starts for me). But what’s the alternative, just give in to elastic waistbands and feeling awful? Don’t feel bad about your fresh starts and changing approach it’s totally worth it.

@poorpaws jeans are so difficult, I must have 8 pairs, all too big or too small. Shame we can’t all meet up, throw all our jeans in a giant pile and see if one of us can find a pair to fit. Also how come my DH has no problems buying jeans?

poorpaws · 01/04/2024 17:37

@triplecheeese hi, lovely to have you back. There is no need to slink back in, you are so welcome to come back to the fold. You've also done far better than me with your weight loss or lack of weight gain since you were last here. It's been quite a depressing year for some of us but I'm hoping we are turning it around from April onwards.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I've never tried the protein supplements but I do eat a lot of protein, lots of eggs and chicken particularly. I'm not sure how I feel about the supplements but I'll take a look when I next go to Asda, thank you.

@Sedgwick I think we've all suddenly gained a bit of positivity about losing weight and if only we all do a strict April, leading each other in the right direction, we'll feel much better by May. This is my hope, that I can knuckle down for a month before the jeans come off and the summer skirts go on.

I've had a mixed emotional day. For a start they weren't overly helpful in M&S, just told me to order another pair of size 12, which as I've already said might be another small pair. On a positive note she confirmed that the small pair of jeans were more like a size 8.

I had to brave the M&S changing room mirrors again which really brought my mood down because my backside is about twice the size I thought it was. On a very positive note though I came out with two new pairs of jeans, both completely different, and not a bad fit. I tried nine pairs on. Of course they will be an even better fit if I lose weight.

I did enjoy my afternoon out and actually spent a small fortune on the first day of my frugal April. I managed to get a linen bin and I've been after one for ages because mine is far too big and currently holds a big palm plant. I also bought quite a lot of candles to keep the smelly dog perfume out of my kitchen. I must've bought a lot because I couldn't carry all the bags but had to keep stopping and swapping hands.

Anyway, I'm going to cook dinner soon and I'm going to try not to eat later this evening. Looking at the M&S mirrors has given me even more positive vibes to lose this bloomin weight.

Let's all do our very best to conquer the weight this month. I'm feeling really good about doing well this time but of course it's still Day 1 😁.
