So I've been reading all the threads on weight loss injections and been doing research here and elsewhere.

I've been on thyroxine for ten years but have sadly in the last 4 years gained almost 4 stone Confused

It started when I started to take citalopram after some heavy very stressful life events and I just am struggling to get the weight off and I've had enough

It's making me so miserable
I'm hefty my joints and legs ache I'm hot all the time and am struggling to excercise with a very busy full time business I run and work in single handles

Is there anyone here who takes weight loss injections with thyroxine and how have you found it

I have a question for anyone that may know the answer to?

I am very interested in starting ozempic, but after research isn't allowed for people with history of thyroid cancer. My grandparent did have thyroid cancer, they have since passed away so I can't actually find out which type they had.

Would I be able to find out anywhere? Or because it isn't myself or a parent, would I be ok?

Thanks

For those paying for the pens, where are you buying? I thought private clinics see not allowed to sell it?

Also, how many does per pen? Trying to work out if I could afford this for a few months.

Thanks

Since April. Pretty slow now but still losing. Another stone and a half to go.

Incredible, well done!

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/11/2023 03:27

Simple online pharmacy

I had a gastric sleeve on Monday 6th home next day rather I had just went straight for this instead of buying those injections

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/11/2023 03:27

Stayed on lowest dose most months

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/11/2023 03:29

Just to update I had my thyroid levels checked before my sleeve my levels before saxenda were 4 they are now 9 which means I’ve had my Levo increased it’s all down to the saxenda

Noalcohol · 09/11/2023 07:10

I’m considering the gastric sleeve instead of ozempic my appt with the specialist will be April next year. Last chance slimming world hoping again this morning never stick to it so going to try this harder time. Did you lose weight on the ozempic even though your thyroid was worse @SuffolkUnicorn ?

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/11/2023 07:40

Hi I lost 4 stone very quickly it made me very I’ll I wasn’t eating for three weeks at a time when I did eat all I had was cottage cheese and pickles I continued to eat exactly the same when I came off and the weight piled back on. It’s a money making scheme they want people hooked on it so it keeps the cash rolling in wish I’d never started it.

I’m now 3dpo with the sleeve feel fine my thyroid was mucked around due to saxenda and doctors agreed I’ve spoken to so many women on tiktok who have had the same issue as me

try it if you want personally I found it a waste of money you’d be better off just dieting normally or getting a sleeve

Noalcohol · 09/11/2023 07:42

@dothehokeycokey I have the antibodies which show I have hashimotos as my body is attacking my thyroid I think most hypothyroid cases have this not sure if it’s tested for routinely? I am on 75 mg of Levro started on 50 mg 10 years ago so I think I am quite stable and don’t want to risk wrecking my thyroid function but my BMI is 42 now.

Noalcohol · 09/11/2023 07:48

@SuffolkUnicorn thanks tbh I’m very wary that’s why I’ve not procured it privately. I believe my GLP hormone was messed up as a child as we always had huge dinners plated for us and we had to eat them. I always let my child serve himself and he’s never been obese. I worry about the way ozempic and your own body’s ability to produce GLP interacts and that it is irreversible plus my thyroid. I have until next year but I’m thinking surgery or at least the band or balloon to start with.

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/11/2023 08:22

They don’t really do banding anymore and the balloon only really works if you have a small amount to lose. My friend is a surgeon and said no to balloon and to go for sleeve the surgeon who performed my sleeve Also told me they rarely work and the cost difference isn’t much more.
I paid 10.5k and was sleeved with Dr John Loy at the London independent hospital he is one of the top bariatric surgeons

i weigh currently just over 16 stone

Noalcohol · 09/11/2023 12:53

Thanks @SuffolkUnicorn I will look into the sleeve more.

SuffolkUnicorn · 09/11/2023 13:24

Good luck I’ve lost 8lb since Monday much better than that injection you’d be surprised how many people including my BIL who wish they had never started it
